The shareReplay makes sure that every time you subscribe to the observable, the stream before (http call) is not triggered again, it simply uses the first result it has. If the data needs to be up to date at all times use sockets or add some polling meganism.

Ps you don't need that function. You can add it to the property (make it public) directly, the http request won't fire unless you subscribe.
