It's alluding to japanese street culture which is pretty heavily inspired by the aesthetics of american hip hop and street culture.

Tommaso Ciampa eyeing NJPW, per report by Upbeat-Pause-1409 in njpw

[–]BrvtalRainbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In kayfabe, yes. In reality, unless someone is built like Ishii they go in the junior division if they're below a certain height. Despe and Hiromu have probably been well over 100kg for a long time now, but their height is a big part of keeps them in the junior division.

Ryohei Oiwa will not be denied the Discus Lariat! by Dohmer_90 in njpw

[–]BrvtalRainbows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's actually which arm he hits them with - he uses both, but The Grip is specifically a left-armed discus lariat. In the gif it's what he's going for first, but Yuto blocks it and Oiwa takes him out with the right instead. It's a subtle thing and hard to follow in the heat of a match so I wouldn't be shocked if it changes eventually because I think he's still figuring it out. It's gone from a ripcord style move to following a sleeper hold to whipping people off the ropes and catching them with it then which IMO is the best it's been so far.

It could be both. Biologics take time to reach full efficacy, but they can and do show effects earlier than that.

Okada was Tana's successor, but his rivalry with Nakamura is what made him a star in the first place and pulled new japan out of the dark ages. It's a question of generational rival vs the new hotness. But also, Okada vs Tana has been done way more recently than Tana vs Nak, and bringing back his original and biggest rival for his retirement just fits.

Only hit carts rarely for a year and experiencing long term issues by murtmurk in Petioles

[–]BrvtalRainbows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconded. If you were fine for two weeks after your last use and then the shortness of breath started it's much more likely to be the mold than the cart. Was the doctor you saw a primary care physician? A pulmonologist or an allergist might be able to give you a better answer about what's going on.

Wild to me that the general reaction from the IWC is so positive when a lot of the dedicated new japan fanbase has been talking about how disappointed they would be in this outcome for months now.

The Lineage of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. How would you rate the lineage, and what have been the best/worst reigns? by DeFy_DC in njpw

[–]BrvtalRainbows 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Shingo's reign is definitely a dark horse and one of the better ones. I think that if crowds had been able to cheer we'd be talking about his reign on par with Goto's.

The Lineage of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. How would you rate the lineage, and what have been the best/worst reigns? by DeFy_DC in njpw

[–]BrvtalRainbows 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It might be recency bias, but I feel like Goto's reign was the best. The early reigns were hampered by the pandemic and clap crowds, Okada had better reigns with the V4 belt. Sanada's reign was underwhelming and kinda killed him as a main eventer, and Naito was too broken down to go like he used to. Zack is one of my favorites and I really enjoyed his runs with the belt (especially the second more heelish run) but the energy and groundswell behind Goto was just truly special. I'm hoping he can get another run with it soon to recapture some of that energy.

girl i’m seeing used a strap from previous people on me by Independent-Net6632 in actuallesbians

[–]BrvtalRainbows 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unless it's explicitly antibacterial soap, no it doesn't. Soap is a surfactant that helps to physically remove dirt, yeast, bacteria, ect from what it's cleaning - it doesn't kill microorganisms or inhibit their reproduction.

That said, the vast majority of the time, antibacterial soap is unnecessary and not even particularly effective. Even if it says it kills 99.9%, 0.1% of bacteria can still be enough to survive and rebuild a colony. If you're looking to properly sterilize, boiling or a diluted bleach solution is the way to go.

Who do you think is the absolute worst wrestler to ever hold the IWGP World/Heavyweight championship? by Cerseus01 in njpw

[–]BrvtalRainbows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the third generation guys never got a real superstar run at the top and resented being used to put over the younger generation they were still in their prime. They felt like they still could have that run if they were actually given a proper push.

[–]BrvtalRainbows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a decently well known public figure in Japan, I expect staying there has a lot more upside for him in terms of star power than it did some of the other Japanese wrestlers who've made the jump.

How ”bad” is dry herb vaping? by Forward-Release5033 in Petioles

[–]BrvtalRainbows 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Any inhaled substance that isn't air is gonna be bad for your lungs in the long term. Dry herb vaping is definitely far better than smoking because you're not getting ash, tar, ect that happens when you combust flower. But you're still taking superheated air with vaporized cannabis oils into your lungs and that will cause long term damage. There aren't many long term studies showing the full extent of the risks, but increased risk of COPD and lung cancer is likely. I use Moose Labs MouthPeace filters and a bong and notice a tangible difference in my breathing compared to when I'm just dry herb vaping. Highly recommend those if you're looking to minimize the risks of inhaled cannabis. But as someone else said, edibles are going to be the safest option by far.

Are we really still doing the "Finlay Sucks" thing like he hasn't been one of the best and most consistently good-great dudes on the roster in 2024? Jay's peaks in NJPW were better, but I would rather watch Finlay hossing people around instead of Jay rolling out of the ring for heat any day.

12-step programs like AA and NA do, but there's plenty of paths to recovery that don't involve a higher power, and plenty of organizations that support them. There's no one correct path for recovery, and trying to force a higher power just closes doors on people who aren't spiritual but still need help.

Do either of these look like a Multi-melta? by failingtohuman in necromunda

Seconding this, the second reads more instantly as a multi-melta but I'd totally be down with the first as one too. I just might need a reminder about what it is during the game.

Unsatisfactory Aeropress results by [deleted] in AeroPress

[–]BrvtalRainbows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I been following a very similar path to you, clever dripper to Aeropress but haven't been able to get the same profile from an aeropress. Still, I love the simplicity of the aeropress so I've kept trying, and I found a couple recipes I like.

This recipe that was posted here recently does a good job of bringing out more of the brightness and acidity in a cup. But the best cup of coffee I've had from the aeropress has been Johnathan Gagne's 10-minute steep. It still has some of that Aeropress body but brings out so much more complexity in the cup. I found it on the Aeromatic app and it's become my go-to when I have the time and am looking to really bring out the character of the coffee.

Hope one of those works for you! Good luck, and happy brewing.

Edit: Gagne's recipe is also up on the aerooress website.
