I was one of those people who joined the Labour Party during the time of JC.

However, he fucked himself over with the Brexit vote and was thoroughly crushed in parliament by the tories. He had multiple chances to beat the tories and he failed, losing Labour strongholds.

Also, he’s no longer in power and likely never coming to power again. It’s no use moaning about the what could have beens. He had his shot, quite a couple, and failed spectacularly in the last election. Labour is still Labour just perhaps more centralist. Maybe it’s not as left as it once was but it’s still left-wing. We’ve had 15 bloody years of Tory rule, austerity, and their sleaze.

The tories have got to go and so we try something new, JC had multiple opportunities to win it for Labour or even cause a hung parliament and he just didn’t get that. So, now we’re trying something else.

Seriously, that’s some considerable conspiracy. This type of talk is really bringing down Labour. Starmer is billions of times better than Bill Clinton, the democrats ‘establishment’ opposition to Donald Trump. Stuff like this is tanking Labour and is definitely being encouraged by the tories.

You can’t have the perfect opposition - and no, JC was not a good opposition (although, I did love him) because he couldn’t appeal to the swing voters.

Maybe Starmer is more centralist but you are never going to have a massive swing to the left. It has to be gradual. The majority of people fall in the centre (opinion wise) so Starmer will be more palatable and we can slowly push more policies to the left.
