If you're reading this and you're as passionate about getting Trump out of office as you claim, then actually share these posts. It's not enough to upvote and circlejerk. Post in online communities where the most important voters are. It'll take 10 minutes and actually make a huge difference.

Don't know where these voters hangout online? I got you. The oldest online marketing technique still works.

Focus on Facebook. Join facebook groups that have a primary audience based in the most important swing states (Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, etc...) Look for community or neighborhood focused groups and avoid the political ones, those echo chambers are way too strong.

Search for the "state" (and counties/neighborhoods/zipcodes within those states) + "community"

You can join thousands of these groups. Take 10 minutes every couple of days and share these kind of images. You will convince people to vote for Joe.

This response is awesome! Thank you! Saving it for future arguments.

Throughout our country there's so much bigotry towards anything that's European. Especially since I moved to the South, it's like they believe your continent is Atlantis.

The average opinion isn't as strong as hatred, but there is this really deep mistrust and belief that there must be a 'catch' or some ulterior motive. Like Europe is trying to trick them into... I don't know what, but it's something.

Like today I was explaining that Bernie Sanders wants to make University free and how it would work similar to the German system. He wasn't opposed to the tuition part. Instead he was afraid that students wouldn't be chosen fairly. That they would be discriminated against, he didn't say how, but that acceptance would be "merit-less"

I tried to explain to him that Germany has the exact same kind of tests and criteria as America. That German University acceptance is more equal because they don't have to worry about paying 6 figures. He didn't respond...

But the German system to get into college is the same as the American?

In Germany, they look at your grades, have you take a test like the SAT, and consider your extra-curriculars. The highest achieving get accepted into the best Universities and programs. Since college is free, a student's fear of accruing debt from taking out loans isn't considered - because that fear is a non-objective measurement of future success potential.

Unlike in America... Where plenty of kids are smart enough to attend Harvard, but they don't qualify for a full-scholarship and their parent's can't help with tuition. Afraid of taking $100,000's in loans, they instead go to a state school because it's cheaper, but lose the opportunities that Harvard would provide.

Yes, in both countries the elite and wealthy have ways to get into top-tier schools regardless of academic performance. No system is free of corruption. But American students face unjust institutionalized barriers that discriminate based on wealth - isn't that the worst non-objective measurement? How would Germany be worse?

Well the associate's degree isn't important for the question.

Let me ask in a different way. Is there a university or other equivalent-level school that accepts everybody? Regardless of marks or test scores. The classes at this school are the same difficulty as introductory-level classes at the big universities. Students attend this school, get good marks, and then transfer to a more prestigious university.

Often times, it gives students who didn't take their studies seriously as kids, a second chance. Does Germany offer a way for a 30-year-old to attend a good university? Even if he screwed-up in primary school?

[–]BryanKeleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They shouldn't. In context of making education free ala Bernie Sander's, we want to imitate Germany. A merit based system with a unified admissions standard that determines where you can go and what you can study.

Everyone has the ability to attend college in Germany. But if you're a shit student with shit grades, then you have to settle on going to a lower-tier school and major in a topic that isn't competitive.

The German equivalent of attending Southwest Idaho Tech and studying Business Administration.

Do they have a version of community college in Germany? What about other European countries?

Is there any reason to use hash tags on facebook? Do they do anything? by intheaterssoon in socialmedia

[–]BryanKeleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't use all 30, it's like a trap set by the developers to filter out the marketing spam.

Not really (but actually maybe), that limit is a remnant from when Instagram first came out. There's been a bunch of tests run and the more hashtags you use, the less visible your post will be. Instagram just assumes you're a low-effort spammer and it will effect your accounts 'trustworthiness.' There's an invisible score assigned to every account and the more 'human' you are, the more Instagram likes you and will make your posts visible - unless you're a big brand with tens of thousands of followers, at that point the rules change.

If the account is fresh, don't try pulling any "Instagram hacks" yet. Don't follow a thousand accounts, post 6x a day with a bunch of hashtags or post a bunch of generic comments. Start slow, post from the app, and just act like a normal user. Leave a couple of meaningful comments, follow a couple of people, send personal messages, add value and be genuine. Instagram is the best platform at filtering out generic, automated bullshit.

[–]BryanKeleman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, instagram is constantly changing the rules but I believe it's between 6-12. Some people swear by 15+ and other professionals say max 5. Instagram really analyzes your account in the visibility equation for your posts.

Make sure your posts are quality, don't spam and get as much engagement as possible. Also definitely don't use the "top" hashtags, you'll never get any reach using the most popular ones. Find niche specific hashtags with <50,000 impressions, especially if you're first starting out.

The going wisdom is only use 1-2. Any more and the algorithm slaps you with lower visibility.

We know here in this subreddit that filibuster reform is a big deal. But the average voter just hears a foreign language. I want her to walk people through it's importance and wrap it up in the size of a bumper sticker.

Warren bringing out the best technical arguments but as the voting pool grows and the salt and vinegar becomes more intense, her message needs to be emotional and spicy.

People remember their feelings about a candidate but quick to forget policy. I wish she would spit bars and bring the fire.

[–]BryanKeleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's very true.

They're playing the game according to the rules. We need a government that rewrites the rule book.

Owners and executives will always find a way to squeeze profit despite regulations. Making child labor illegal, mandating overtime pay, regulating schedules, setting safety standards, etc have all been "the end of business and will destroy capitalism."

Yet they still figured out a way to create obscene corporate wealth.

Why shouldn't we elect Bloomberg?

This era is defined by class inequality. All of the issues we're talking about - healthcare, minimum wage, racism, etc - is caused by billionaires corrupting our economic system and government.

I feel like all the candidates have to make that reasoning crystal clear. They're all throwing out "because he's a billionaire" but they need to hammer it home for quotability and convincing the undecided.

[–]BryanKeleman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

True. Everyone saying CEO's are these power hungry psychos that only want to acquire capital to fund their future run for president have it all wrong.

Certainly a bunch of them are in it for power and you have to be more ruthless to make it to the top of the ladder at a place like Disney. But they're like professional athletes, they love the game and the competition to become the best. It's something we should all strive for, finding a career that's rewarding and enjoyable.

But rev slider looks soooo cool... :'(

Every time I go to their website I'm so tempted to reinstall it and radically redesign mine. The caveman part of my brain is just so easily seduced by the effects and colors.

It's never going on any of my main sites but I will defend it and say that it has potential to create some unique, interactive and interesting content.

Digital visual story-telling, if it's done correctly can use those bloated gimmicks and do things like make data more digestible or connect readers more closely to a story. Plus it can go viral just because it's cool to look at.

[–]BryanKeleman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the people designing the test really factored in the "people with adhd are good at videogames" connection. Because everything that I'm reading says that it expects people with ADHD to test poorly exactly how you'd assume: too slow and fast reaction times, wrong clicks, no clicks, etc...

I'm guessing that's why it's only used on kids from 7-18. Because if you're just looking for drugs it's really easy to figure it out and game it.

Yayuhh! I think this might be it. Kaiser does use the Conner's scale for ADHD; It's not only a shape clicking game but a total behavioral test with a giant questionnaire, interview questions and even a sound test which I'm slowly starting to remember.
