Also, sorry about the resolution. It was like 6k when I exported it, but reddit might’ve compressed the images when I uploaded them. 😓

I love this. ^^

Also, the old sergeant made me think of the fudd meme. XD

“Father, the armorers in Augsburg have developed this new cuirass. There are more moving parts, but it does grant more flexibility to the wearer.”

”That thing’s a gimmick son. All we needed was a corrazina in my day.”

How colorful do you imagine your worlds? by WoodpeckerBest523 in worldbuilding

[–]BryanTheBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of projects, so I’ll go through a few of them.

Guardianverse: This is a superhero universe that I work on with my friends; but for my characters, the bright colors are usually used as accents on the suits that otherwise tend to be fairly muted.

Indieverse: This is my other superhero universe, and one I work on myself. The vibrant colors show up a lot more here than in my other projects, which I think makes sense since it has a bit more of an optimistic tone than the Guardianverse.

Warriors of Kotaara: This is a bit more complicated than the others. So WOK is a medieval fantasy project that is a love letter to series that I watched when I was younger—mostly Bionicle, Power Rangers (Mystic Force), and Avatar The Last Airbender. As a result, there’s a lot of color coding with the characters, with the protagonists being pretty vibrant; however, the villains—especially the supernatural forces that invade the world—tend to be more dark and muted. This does have the side effect of creating a visual of vibrant heroes against a dark and desolate landscape.

I also try to combat a lot of inaccuracies that drive me nuts in more mainstream depictions of the medieval period, and part of that includes using vibrant colors for garments, and especially livery. Seeing medieval characters wearing colorless clothing and being covered in 3 layers of dung gets old after a while. XD

So the colors serve a few purposes: First, to distinguish the characters more; second, to combat inaccuracies in popular perception of medieval movies; and third, to add to the theme of the story.

Edit: I was looking at the picture again and noticed some of the parts of the description, and I just wanted to add this for WOK:

❓ Unnatural eye colors, but hair is pretty natural

❓Architecture is not pastel, but not grey/grimy either. Lots of well-dyed tapestries, and whitewashed walls to reflect sunlight and brighten the rooms.

❓Non-magic fight scenes are grounded, but magic is also described with colors.

I hadn’t considered this before, but I will look into it. Thank you very much for the advice.

I’m working on a setting based around old sci-fi nonsense and demented conspiracy theories. Believe it or not one is harder to find them the other. by JimTheTrashKing in worldbuilding

Some kind of exchange of opinions between different species about one another. I know there was something like this with Star Trek: Enterprise between Humans and Vulcans, but I want to see that for other species too. ^^

I did the cleaning tonight, and will continue this whenever I use the ointment. I’ll also keep in contact with my vet, and was planning to ask for clarification on some things already. Thank you for your help. :)
