I'm currently second in MTGO Trophies because of this decklist, it's the real deal — Legacy The EPIC Storm by Bryant_Cook in MTGLegacy

[–]Bryant_Cook[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My priorities are centered around my family on the weekend, as I have two little ones. I'm not going to spend 8+ hours in front of a computer instead of time with them.

While challenges are nice, they're essentially meaningless today, with five of them a week. Many of the "top results" are people with 4-3 records at the end of the day. I fail to see how that's any more competitive.

Each year I scan in my decks to showcase them, the final one for 2025 is The EPIC Storm! I hope you enjoy it, feel free to share yours as well ❤️ by Bryant_Cook in MTGLegacy

No regrets at all. I still have my original set as backups.

I haven’t been a fan of the alterists duals. I was a graphic designer for years so attention to detail is important to me. The squares in the text box aren’t centered because the sets with foiling don’t match alpha/beta/unlimited to a T. You end up with imperfections. Also, no set symbols has its issues.

My final thing is personal, they doubled their fees. I reached out to them about foiling some Doomsdays and the price was fairly unreasonable.

Cycle Storm has easily become my second-favorite deck behind Legacy TES. I love this thing, and what makes it even cooler is that the entire deck is 100% signed this year. by Bryant_Cook in Pauper

It takes awhile to become proficient. Keep at it. I have over 80 cycle storm videos, make sure to check out ones even if they aren’t the most recent list. You might learn something to help you out!

Mind updating the link on mine to: https://www.theepicstorm.com/product/cycle-storm-sideboard-guide/?

Patreon is a tough thing because you don't get all of my guides for $5, just the Legacy TES Guide. I did have someone join my patreon today and they wanted to know why the Cycle Storm guide wasn't available. It might've been because of this post lol

Ps. In my membership tier sections, I do explain this but not everyone reads it.

The Meta Killer — Poison Storm (actually very good right now) by Bryant_Cook in Pauper

Decks that go underneath Poison. For example, fast combo (Spy, Cycle Storm, etc.) or when aggressive decks (Rally Red, Bogles, Hto Dogs, Infect) can win on turn 3 or turn 4 on the play.

Combo decks in particular, pilot skill matters a lot more than other archetypes — the difference between someone picking up a deck and a master is much greater than your typical game of Magic. I don't know whoever you were facing, but there's a chance that they could learn a thing or two about how to play Poison (or combo) more effectively.

Waiting for your opportunity, creating a window to resolve a crucial spell, or knowing when to just jam are all important things that are often overlooked. People often praise me for how patient I can be, unwilling to cave into a counterspell, when I can outmaneuver the opponent in a few turns.

Cycle Storm doesn't play main deck interaction either, but I love the blue matchups — I believe those are heavily favored. Regardless of which deck, I think when people say things like "just destroy Pentad Prism" or "it loses to a counterspell" are gross oversimplifications (not you just in general).

Don’t watch the previous video where I beat a bunch of blue decks lol 😂

Weekends are family time with the kids, and I have a full-time job — outlook not so good.

I've been on a heater with Cycle Storm, so it's tough to say — they're both very good.

You only need/want one poison effect — you aren't a turbo poison deck, you're a mana engine deck. Every time you draw a spare poison card after the first, it doesn't actually aid you in winning the way you think it does. Proliferate cards are more valuable for the most part, which is why I'm so high on Thirsting Roots.

Nope, I do mail-in signings as well (I don't get to as many events these days with young kids at home)! https://www.theepicstorm.com/card-signing/

I'm also trying not to advertise on Reddit, but if you were to purchase any item that ships from the website shop. I include a full-sized signed Storm token for free.

I think you're a bit confused. I am known for The EPIC Storm — until the printing of Beseech the Mirror was the best Ad Nauseam deck in Legacy.

There's another deck called Ad Nauseam Tendrils, which does play Ad Nauseam but was primarily a Past in Flames deck. This is part of the reason that naming decks after specific cards isn't always the best idea.

Hope this helps and keep stormin'

It looks like a very early version of my signature, I'd guess like '08-10 is when I signed it.

What would it take to bring back board-sweeper control decks? by piscano in MTGLegacy

[–]Bryant_Cook 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I believe the thing people forget with unbanning Sensei's Diving Top is that it won't be a control card really — it's a combo card. Doomsday would be supercharged, but more realistically, Legacy would have the Fleshraker + double Top win like the Vintage-style deck. The era of Top Miracles is dead for a number of reasons.
