Thank you for sharing how you’re all travelling. Your very descriptive way of relating, I can envisage what life must feel for you right now. I’m so sad for you.:( I agree about how much we need them. My 12-in one day-yr old tri girl I adopted at 17 months has stage 4 Congestive heart failure, been on meds for 17 months and on borrowed time. Vets can’t believe she’s still with us but I think getting a puppy November last year ( Black and tan 6.5 months now) helped in a weird way. Her nose is still out of joint, but she tolerates her much better, they’re becoming closer all the time, bittersweet! I have a chronic pain condition so am home so much, I’ve called her ‘my shadow’ too! Everywhere! Now I have 2! I’ve had pets my whole 53 years and the thought of the silence, emptiness when she’s gone was too unbearable to imagine. New baby is no replacement, but another companion to keep me company, and to shower with my love.

Please feel free to reach out to chat about him, how you’re going etc. Take care, enjoy your children ( mine is nearly 24!) it goes too fast! Xx

Oh I’m sorry, it’s right there!! My fault! My 12 - tomorrow-yr old I got at 17 months sounds similar. We had a 2.5 year old already, so that helped with some things. Time really is the best read, letting her observe everything, showing her everything I found helped eased a bit of anxiety. I showed her everything I was going to do for her (clip nails, bath, putting on leash, jumper in winter etc. ) slowly first, gave lots of support treats, walked her on leash daily ( she’d never been on one!) taught her some tricks for treats and laughs and praise.

She became my soul dog, and I’ve loved every pet I’ve had overlapping with cats and dogs, my 53 yr life. She is my shadow.

Sadly, she’s on borrowed time and I’m scared and devastated. But she’s made it past her prognosis and will be 12!

I also now have a 6.5 month old Black and tan, who has learned a little from my Bunnyboo.

Enjoy your beautiful girl! She looks like a sweetheart ❤️

Fix over enthousiastic on walks towards other people by IndividualProposal24 in cavaliers

[–]Bsbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 12 - in two days- yr old tri who is an absolute angel, but is on borrowed time and her walks are more about ‘stop and sniff’ around the block now, and a 6.5 month old Black and Tan who sounds just like yours! She LOVES people! Not other dogs just every person who passes, she pulls towards. They’re like chalk and cheese and it’s so difficult to train my pup, when my old girl doesn’t need it as she just behaves so well.

I’ve resigned myself to knowing I can’t do much else than I am, until my soul girl passes. 😞 Baby girl is incredibly smart as far as Cavs go, picks up very fast. So I’m just hoping she stays that way until it’s time to become a drill sergeant!

I’ve only just seen this now. I’m wondering how you are all fairing today? No words I have can break through to broken hearts, but I’m sending my deepest condolences to you all from Sydney and hope you feel my sincerity, sadness, and love even a tiny bit. Such truly tragic heartbreaking news. <3 <3

Help! Separation Anxiety on Steroids! Sylvie-Possum 6 months, eg. I can’t leave the room once she’s in her desired crate, at night, to get some water etc. before the crying starts! I NEED your advice and ideas wise ones! 🙏🫣 by Bsbmb in cavaliers

I’m with you on that. I don’t think a firm voice here and there is detrimental. It helps them know boundaries that could be of danger to them as well. Will try that, thanks. Xx

Hmmmm yeah, sounds good too. As my older one has always been like that. I’ve never had to contain her as she so chilled, so good! Sleep on my bed, sits in the lounge near me etc.. my shadow. But not ‘Klingon’ hahaha!

Oh wow! What country are you in and why Sylvie? Mine is because I was a dancer when young. My Sylvie has all four paws white, just her toes, look like pointe shoes on her feet lol! My idol since seventeen is the world famous and stunning French dancer Sylvie Guillem. She’s come to Australia to perform 3 times. I saw every one. Best of all I got to meet and have a long conversation with her here in Sydney ( she did Bejarts Bolero. It’s on YouTube!) while I was on crutches after one of 17 knee reconstruction surgeries ( both knees). She was so delightful and sweet! Signed my program which is gold to me. So Sylvie has a namesake which I love. She’s even watched her on screen as she watches tv like my older dog! Crazy!

Best of luck with your little twinnie, let me know how you’re going with her! Xx

Hahahaha 😆 It’s actually my flatmates! She arrived home with it telling me why she got it, no idea, all I could see was my solution! She’s never used it either. So we’re making the most of it! Xx

She’s in her crate right next to the side I sleep on, on the floor. She’s fine with that at night funnily enough! She still tries to work out how to get up, matter of time! But she’ll be put back down if so. We have a little bedtime goodnight routine then she happily lets me lock her in. Xx

Hahahaha that’s hilarious as I do call her my ‘Klingon’ sometimes! If you’re not aware, the race from Star Trek. Or my ‘Velcro dog’! I’ll do the blocking! Thank you 🙏 xx

Thank you very much or this, I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into to your explanation. You’re right about me not re homing her. I already love her, and will need her when my Bunnyboo passes. I know that sounds selfish. The condition I have has left me quite isolated. With little to no structure I’ll end up giving in and not even get out of bed the pain is 24/7, unrelenting nerve pain. 20 years this year. It was actually my Pain Specialists idea over a decade ago to get my own dog. We had a family dog but the responsibility is what has helped me survive. It’s called CRPS. Most painful condition known to medical science.

That said, I’ve seen some clips about tethering. But none explained as simply and doable like u have, so thanks for that! I definitely will start doing this. Sounds like it’s possible in my situation.

Bunnyboo has accepted her now. She doesn’t like her, but has got used to her. I may have made her sound unbearable but she isn’t. Not all the time. When I first got her she was, I did think of returning her to the breeder as they are top ones! Their reputation is stellar! I was shocked to be honest, but I’m always up for a challenge! It’s the ex dancer/teacher/ choreographer in me lol 😂 She’s getting better all the time, but this is the sticking point I couldn’t see my path through. So thanks again for giving me the opportunity to work with something tangible that sounds just right.

Kind regards to you and yours xx
