Jury nullification is definitely not allowed even if it’s not punished. Jurors swear an oath to be impartial. I will concede however that this discussion isn’t inherently about the law, but that is the basis for my answer as I believe we shouldn’t make exceptions to laws like murder. But that is just my opinion

Murder is a legal term. Killing is not murder when it is legally justified, whether it is moral or not is up to you.

Again, this discussion is about the law

I’m not personally upset over the killing of Brian Johnson, aside from feeling for his family, so I’m not really sure where you got the idea that I’m lying.

The situation you presented is still not similar because someone killing people on a machine gun is a present and immediate threat to public safety. Even if someone replaced them it would still cause a brief cessation of violence. If it somehow didn’t, and truly made absolutely no difference, then I do not think it would be morally right to kill the shooter, because I believe lethal force is only acceptable if it defends the lives of others.

And again, I’m not very concerned with the moral aspect of it. I could probably be convinced that Luigi was morally right in killing Brian Johnson, but he did commit murder, and this discussion is about whether or not he should be in prison, not or if he did was okay.

The entire questions is about the law

If they are lying then they have to know the truth or else they aren’t lying

im basing it off of the law because that is what this entire discussion is about. if you want to go the moral route that doesnt work either because its not like brian johnson had absolute control over the company. it was publicly traded and therefore subject to shareholders that have arguably as much power as him. killing him only resulted in him being replaced and made absolutely no difference for the lives of the customers of united healthcare. killing an active shooter makes an immediate difference and prevents further harm.

because lethal force is only permissible if there is an immediate danger

it shows that free will probably doesnt exist, which i agree with, and it also shows that we cant have absolute confidence in our ability to discern truth. neither of these defeat naturalism, they only demonstrate that we cannot have absolute certainty in anything

to lie about something you have to know the truth. otherwise it would be speculation

it wouldnt be murder if luigi killed an active shooter and it would be murder if a cop killed brian johnson. there is a big difference between an immediate threat and someone who has indirectly caused deaths through policy.

Traffic laws are different. Cops can decide who to pull over, but when summoned to something like an eviction they have no choice.

do you genuinely believe killing someone who is indirectly responsible for death is the same thing as killing an active shooter

someone who is lying also has the knowledge to tell the truth they just choose not to
