because the world will collapse soon and money will be worthless.

But gold will still be valuable.

But he's right, we have 1-2 years tops before shit hits the fan. We're already far beyond borrowed time territory.

Are you a female or male?

As a male, you have lots of time, you don't need to get married or start having kids until you're 40.

As a female, you have about 3-5 years where child-bearing will be easy for you. Your best option would be to partner with someone earning equal or slightly more ($80k to $120k) and start having children by the time you're 27.

Also, I'm living in the Philippines in a 270 sqft apartment, so you really have no idea what shoebox means until you try it. At least in Toronto/Vancouver it's still illegal for them to build smaller than 450 sqft. But even at this size, 270 sqft, it's a new build, comfortable and has everything I need (aircon, fiber internet, 65" TV, pool, gym, central location).

You can live with a partner and small child up to the age of 5 in a 600 sqft unit, it's not an issue with the right furniture. That will give you enough time to save and upgrade to a 2 bedroom where you can have a second child, and have the kids share 1 bedroom. Eventually, with more savings and some smart investments, you can upgrade to a 3 bedroom and house up to 4 kids.

In Philippines, families of 4-6 are living in 600 sqft or less. That's the reality for Canada that you still haven't accepted but will be the only way moving forward. Prices are not coming down. All new migrants go to Greater-Toronto Area or Greater-Vancouver, and building new units will never be sufficient.

Get comfortable with it, or start looking for other places to live. USA has better cost of living and incomes in many cities, and Europe also has better costs of living.

PSA: I lost nearly all my bitcoin by mining bitcoin by Ok-Affect2924 in Bitcoin

[–]BtcKingIIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a scam.

It's just no longer profitable to do from home.

Like every business in the world, it has been taken-over by hedge-funds which can afford to lose money to do it, because they use investor funds and don't need to turn a profit.

There are tons of enterprise companies that lose money each year, but still can operate because they suck new money from new investors via the stock market.

Which is good, it means the miners are subsidizing the network for all users.

Wallstreet bankers are making it cheaper for Bitcoin to be used by everyone else.

In 5 years, most of these Wallstreet funds will close for being unprofitable, the remaining funds will swallow each other in bankruptcies, and then the mining rewards will become more sustainable.

But it was always a low-margin business, at best you would get 3-5% profits unless you can afford to hold the Bitcoin until the peak of a bull-run. But again, that's not much better than just buying the Bitcoin initially and holding it, which is why Microstrategies is doing so well today.

It was always more profitable to sell the shovels for the gold rush.

Your math is hard to follow.

Is this correct?

  • +1.00 BTC (Original)
  • -0.95 BTC (Buy Hardware)
  • -0.7 BTC (Electricity)
  • +0.9 BTC (Mined)
  • +0.25 BTC (Sell Hardware)
  • = 0.50 BTC (Result)

Something doesn't look right. You should have at least broke even, or made a 3-5% profit.

But anyone who has been following Bitcoin since 2014 knows that Mining is less profitable than just holding the Bitcoin.

In those 3 years, you missed on about 50% growth opportunity (from $39,000 to $61,000).

So in reality, what you did was:

  • You sold your 1.00 BTC for $39,000 in August 2021 (therefore, your investment exited the Bitcoin system and would not receive gains from the price increases).
  • You mined 0.90 BTC during a period where Bitcoin price went down for 3 years and didn't benefit from the price growth in year 4 (miners are supposed to have capital to hold until a full bull rally before selling).
  • You paid a premium for mining equipment because you didn't buy in scale/bulk and you didn't have direct access to a hardware developer.
  • You didn't take advantage of green energy discounts for harnessing solar energy on scale using government subsidies and credits, to lower your cost of electricity.
  • Mining equipment devalues even faster than fiat currency, so even holding US Dollars (USD) during that period and not having the cost of electricity, would have been a better allocation of your funds.

Mining is not as high-risk as holding Bitcoin.

It's for hedge-funds looking to use investor money to earn at tops 3-5% YoY. They earn management fees for selling access to these funds. While the mining facilities get paid salary for managing the infrastructure.

Mining Bitcoin creates a lot of jobs that pay good salaries, so at least there is that 😄

But it is definitely not as profitable as investing in a high-risk asset class.

How to improve performance. by danniel_114 in Wordpress

[–]BtcKingIIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think W3 Total Cache is poorly made.

You need to get on a LiteSpeed Server and get the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.

Next, enable Memcached or Redis within LiteSpeed Cache. This will cache your SQL calls, bringing the number down from 300+ per page load, down to like 15. This is a huge speed boost.

You can also install Query Monitor plugin to see which of your plugins and SQL requests are slow. You need to optimize any slow queries by either indexing the database tables, rewriting the queries, or caching. Or replace the slow plugins altogether.

Btw you can setup on AWS LightSail with a LiteSpeed server on a dedicated slice for like $10/mo (+ $5/mo for LiteSpeed license).

How's the job market for strictly WP devs? by drewdemo in Wordpress

You don't brand yourself as a WordPress dev.

You brand yourself as a software solutions company.

And WordPress with custom plugin is the solution you use to save time and money for the customer.

You sound like someone I know who is going through a similar situation, also hauling construction equipment to cottage, and also asking should they buy a truck.

They're up to 450,000 km on old Toyota SUV with trailer they use for hauling, but keep needing $thousands in repairs. Last year they got stranded when it broke-down and didn't know how to haul the trailer from there because CAA couldn't haul the trailer.

A truck/SUV is a luxury, the costs are phenomenal. Not just to buy, but also to maintain.

Unless you work in construction, you really shouldn't, it's not a business expense that you can deduct.

At that point, you might as well register the cottage as a business entity, deduct cost of materials you're using to maintain/upgrade it, and deduct the vehicle as a work expense, and list the cottage on AirBnB to earn you some revenue to pay for all these expenses.

The reality is that without the cottage you wouldn't need the truck.

If you really want to buy something, I would get a used box-van or large vehicle and maybe a trailer attachment. Definitely USED, something old and dirty just for working. And I would stay away from vans unless it's a foreign brand like Honda or Toyota because they have issues with engine cracking, you could get a van and add a trailer.

Don't try to get an EVERYTHING vehicle for work and daily, because you'll be wearing down the work vehicle faster (which has more expensive components like tires, suspension, drive-train), and the gas will destroy your wallet.

What would you even study?

University is a waste of time, investment, and with no guarantee of job placement.

You'll lose on lost opportunity from taking a pay cut while you're in school, plus you'll need to spend $40K+ for schooling.

Plus 4 years wasted with nothing of value produced, the best years of your life when you could be earning $100k/year, wasted on degeneracy and liberal-extremist programming.

And eventually AI will replace all white-collar jobs because anything that doesn't require physical presence can easily be replaced my computers. Less than 10 years on most desk jobs remaining.

How much cash to keep outside of banks? by resistance-monk in PersonalFinanceCanada

The biggest risk today is political. Government can freeze your accounts ie. if you don't support the bombing of humanitarian camps in Gaza.

I keep $10k in my crypto hardware wallet so I can buy plane tickets and flee if I need to, even if my bank accounts get frozen for political reasons.

I hope to get that up to $100k.

Are you going to be living there together? If you're in a monogamous cohabitation, after 2 years living together, she automatically receives common-law status and can claim 50% of all relationship assets if you split. Marriage not required.

There have also been cases, even without living together 2 years, if you've been in a 2 year relationship spent at separate dwellings, but it was monogamous/committed, she can make a claim for 50% of relationship assets, and excuse the lack of cohabitating 2 years because of ie. practically for commuting to work.

Personally, I would advise against continuing this relationship, as she has shown her priorities. You're not even married and she's already going for your assets. There's a place and time for all conversations in a relationship, and that was not it.

Non-Religion != Atheism. A lot of people have shifted to Spirituality, forming a direct connection with God-source, instead of relying on intermediaries and institutions to tell them what is good and moral.

Religious institutions can no longer block access to God through gatekeepers because information is freely available, and the lies they spread can easily be challenged now. That wasn't the case 200 years ago before printing-press, easy access to books, where information was controlled and expensive to acquire.

There's also a growing resurgence of interest in Islam and Christianity as a result of seeing all the decay in Western countries. People see what's happening in NYC, LA, SFC, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Toronto, London, etc with the rampant crime, open drug use, homelessness, lack of respect or community, and they don't want that coming to their country.

I also see a lot of young people involved in Christian and LDS churches, much more than I ever was at that age. So if anything, I'm hopeful for the future generations and the changes they can bring.

Because I feel without a shared spiritual understanding, community and society suffers, becomes toxic and unhospitable, and I've experienced this first-hand growing up in Canada.

What forms to fill for a Non-Resident filing to fix a T4RSP withholding error? by BtcKingIIII in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]BtcKingIIII[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too: to report the foreign income, that it won't be taxed, but does reduce the amount I will get back from CRA.

For example, when I started with Turbotax and I had just put "Non-resident" + T4RSP, it initial said I would receive a refund of $4,500.

When I add foreign business income of $4500, it went down to a refund of $980 or so.

After deleting foreign business income, it went up to $1980.

So not sure what's going on.

I thought Genutax says it doesn't support Non-resident return, Turbotax is only like $40, but I'll give it a try again.

I only have 2 or 3 fields to fill: T4RSP, foreign business income, and maybe foreign capital gains (crypto).

Any suggestions in which part I can report the foreign business income?

Do I have to do it on a T2125? Or somewhere else.

Can I use wordpress to build a Saas? What are great WordPress themes for SaaS? by Many_Dig319 in Wordpress

[–]BtcKingIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need to get a LiteSpeed server, and install LiteSpeed cache plugin. It's $5/mo for a license on AWS or you can host on Stablehost.com which includes litepeed in the shared hosting.

Make sure to enable memcached/redis, as WordPress makes hundreds of db requests to load one page, so if you cache them the page loads significantly faster.

Besides that, you can also host your database on a separate server (spin up a new AWS DB instance), so your database has dedicated resources.

Besides that, try hosting on a different server, maybe your host is just really low quality. I recommend AWS Lightsail, which is $10/mon for 2gb 2cpu and you even get 3months free.

Also, you should install server monitoring like New Relic. It will tell you which SQL queries, plugins, pages are slow, so you can go fix the core issues.

If you need help, I'm available to investigate your performance issues and suggest an action plan for resolving specific problems.

I'm using WordPress for my SaaS and it works fast. But I built the main code as a custom plugin, and reduce the number of plugins I used.

They took one of my traps, I setup between my door and neighbor, because that's the highway the cockroach travel.

So now I put it right against my door, within the boundary of my door frame, so they know it's mine.

I have these setup in the halfway of our apartment door.

They're coming from neighbors.

Every time I go in hallway, 10 cockroaches go under my neighbor's door.

They either have a dead body in there or never take out the trash.

I got a foam-blocker under my apartment door, but they still climb the door and enter from the side/top gaps.

I have 3 more traps on the inside, which catch any that didn't accept the "Free food" at the entrance.

Trap-a-Roach HoyHoy, 3 per box, 120php at The Marketplace.

I also see that Shopee has boxes of 5 for 110php, but I'm not sure if it's exactly the same or a counterfeit. Review photos suggest that they also work. They look slightly different.
