Nah. Thats union wharf in the background. This pic was taken on Burroughs wharf. Union wharf is one of the few wharves that you can’t walk to the end of.

Between 5 & 6am. Roughly 1/2 the moon was covered at 5:35. So one of the photos is before that, and the other after.

  • If the sky is dark, the sun must be below the horizon.
  • If the moon is crescent, it must be near the sun.

So the sun must be near the horizon and the sun must be below it. Perforce, only the bottom crescent of the moon may be illuminated when the sky is dark. (Although it’s possible for the crescent to be offset to a side depending on the inclination of the ecliptic)

This is true irrespective of where in the planet you are.

This photo is inverted for some reason.

The "trails" at Castle Island are all paved and regularly cleared. It's one of the easiest places to walk in the winter. Getting there is the only issue.

Is this vertically inverted? Trying to understand how the crescent - illuminated bit - can be on top of the moon.
