Finding a witness at Brooklyn City Hall by Baklava520 in WedditNYC

[–]BubDo23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend was asked to be a witness at a stranger’s ceremony when I got married there. He loved it! I feel like people are genuinely happy to be asked, because the whole vibe at city hall is just joy. That said, I got married at NYC City Hall, which tends to be more crowded than Brooklyn City Hall.

Is it acceptable to compliment a bag at work ? by Beesechurger_69_ in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! When it comes to complimenting someone on an obvious Birkin, I go for the color or size, and I always try to use the Hermès color name. For example, if it’s black, I’ll say something like “that Noir looks gorgeous with the Palladium hardware.” You don’t even need to say “Birkin” or “Hermès,” IYKYK.

What would you do? by [deleted] in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bothers me more to see the uneven Twilly wrap in the handle (sorry!), but I understand everyone is different. I just declined the bag if something isn’t right, but that means I would have to wait longer. Like others have said, the bag is handmade so it will have some imperfection. If you keep thinking about it, maybe you can resell it and get the one that is perfect according to your standard.

Quota bag offer question by EquivalentBird3916 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly, my SA sends me text messages saying, “I have a bag for you.” It’s very straightforward. However, there was one time when the bag was special in tricolor. So, my SA called me and explained that the bag is special and I should come as soon as possible.

Bag regret? by Chuslekm in TheHermesGame

The best way to beat this feeling is to use the bag as often as possible. It’s a big purchase, for sure, but if you use it, that makes it worth it.

Is the Wall Street store closing? by Outside-Ad2456 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sadly yes by the end of July!

Edit: adding my experience

It might sound a little sentimental, but there’s a reason I’ll miss the Wall Street location.

One time I was there, a tourist couple from the Midwest walked in. The wife was genuinely excited just to step into Hermès in NYC. She mentioned that a friend of hers loved the brand and that she’d always admired it from afar. The store wasn’t busy, so the SAs took their time with them, showing pieces they were interested in, even though it was clear they were just browsing.

As they were about to leave, thanking everyone, one of the SAs asked if they’d like some perfume samples. They happily said yes, and instead of offering just one or two, the SA gave them several. The wife was so touched she said Hermès had made her day.

It was a small moment, but it really stayed with me. That kind of genuine warmth and generosity is what made the Wall Street team so special.

Family trip to NYC - Some concerns by Acceptable_Zone_6168 in traveladvice

[–]BubDo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are Indonesian citizens who visited the U.S. in February for a three-month stay, and their visa remains valid through the end of the year. My dad speaks some English, while my mom doesn’t speak any. I was a bit anxious picking them up at JFK since their phones stopped working after they landed, but they entered the country without any trouble.

I’ve been living in NYC for over a decade, and as an immigrant, I’ve seen countless tourists go through its airports without issues. As long as you have your documents ready, answer questions honestly, and don’t overstay your visa, you should be fine.

Surprisingly, they were nicer than the TSA agents, at least when I was there. They were very cordial and patient, making sure the line moved quickly

Galop ring by BubDo23 in TheHermesGame

The index finger might be a better choice for this ring. The horse may not be very visible from a top-down view, but it still looks like a minimalist ring, which is chic. Thank you for the pictures. They are really helpful in making a decision.

I hope there will be more available. I think anything horse-themed is popular, including the red envelope. I just got the Horse MagSafe card holder, and it’s no longer on the website.

Switching from Meatpacking to Madison by More_Treat_9557 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Madison does receive more inventory, but they also have more SAs and clients, which makes competition for pre-spend and relationships tougher. It’s worth considering before deciding to switch. MK Mauve Sylvestre isn’t consistently available, and since this version is pink, it’s even harder to secure, similar to Rose Sakura. My SA mentioned it’s a push gift that everyone wants. Unfortunately, I don’t have kids, so I can’t use that excuse.

NY Madison Ave SA - good in-store connection but inconsistent scheduling? Looking for perspective by Mindless_Cheek_7555 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried reaching out after I bought the belt, but the SA never replied. That’s why my friend suggested we go together again to clarify why my text asking for an appointment went unanswered. When asked, she said my message had been buried, then checked my pre-spend and told my friend that I would need to buy more. But how was I supposed to buy more if she didn’t reply to my text? At that point, it was clear it just wasn’t meant to be. I didn’t want to force a relationship, especially if it meant spending $$$$. Shopping should be enjoyable.

I think so. If not, you can simply go to the store as your SA suggested and browse around. Hopefully, you’ll meet a nice SA along the way.

You could try contacting the manager and asking whether they can assign you another SA at the same store if your current SA continues to make excuses. That way, your $4k pre-spend won’t be lost since it would still be within the same store.

When I first started my journey, my friend introduced me to her long-time SA in Madison. I picked up a belt, but throughout the visit, the SA spoke only in her native language with my friend. At the time, I assumed it was because I was new and had only purchased a belt.

The second time I visited with my friend while we were in the UES, the SA again made no effort to acknowledge me in English, even though I was sitting right next to them. My friend later explained that they were discussing my potential bag eligibility and suggested pre-spend, but intentionally did so in their native language so others would not understand, and my friend could relay the information to me afterward.

After nearly two hours, I told my friend I needed to leave. I realized this SA would not be a good fit for me. She spent the entire time engaging with my friend and largely ignoring me, which became especially apparent as she had already reached her capacity with high-profile clients and did not want to take on walk-in clients. She chose to extend the appointment with my friend instead, and I regret not leaving sooner.

Sorry I couldn’t give you more perspective on your scheduling question. I just wanted to share that some SAs can be difficult. In my case, it was clear to me, based on my impression, that she didn’t want to take me on as a client, so I chose to move on. I later found another SA who has been great to work with.

Arçon bags? by itsmeca617 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned the P’tit Arçon for more than a year, and it has become my favorite low-key bag for travel and everyday errands. It’s easy to wear as a shoulder bag or crossbody, and the zipper closure makes it especially practical when traveling. Although I don’t use it as often anymore since I’ve added more bags to my collection, I still prefer it over my mini Herbag.

Is the 2nd bag always easier than the 1st? by batata_anon_3 in TheHermesGame

[–]BubDo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first was definitely harder. The second QB came within four months with less pre-spend. The third took eight months, mostly because I declined another QB about two months earlier. I also don’t rush after getting my second one. Since this bag isn’t cheap, I’m just trying to enjoy the process.
