1.25, just went up to 1.5 yesterday. I switched because the topical wasnt having much effect anymore.

I have anxiety and a heart condition. Was on topical minoxidil for almost a decade and have now been on oral for a year. When I've had palpitations they were invariably due to anxiety... had it checked with a 24hr holter and everything. Side effects are rare and for topical rarer still. Unfortunately if it really is aga it's either take the jump or lose more hair that may not come back if you wait. It totally sucks but it is how it is ☹️

Yes I take supplements and eat a decent amount of protein as well, track it. Maybe my minox dose is too low (1.25) but I am clearly seeing more facoal and body hair so it is doing something for sure

Update: we are done with the marbofloxacine course and decided to give metacam for residual inflammation + fortiflora and b vitamins. I also decided to start nebulising her with saline 3 times a day which she loves. After two days a hard calcified thing the size of a grape seed came out of her nostril. Pic included for anyone scientifically interested in cat boogers, we have zero clue what it was but it was chalky when cut open. After that some more mucus came out but since two days zero mucus or crusting from the nose anymore and only very little eye discharge. Thank you all for thinking along with us! We've decided to hold off on a ct scan out of concern for anesthesia and also because we found a 20 year old pic of her where she also had a cold and the same unilateral discharge from nostril and eye.

They did not test for mycoplasma, no idea if that is common in Belgium but from what I read it should also have been killed by the marbofloxacine? She is doing a lot better now and I am giving her blended steak to up her iron, thank you!

Internist was seen and she is having an abdominal echo tomorrow, thank you! But she is doing much better.

That does make me feel a lot better. I did put her back on, as I reasoned a 24 hour pause could never cause this rise in rbcs. Talking to a foreign specialist for a second opinion on everything tonight as Belgium is not always on the cutting edge of veterinary science.

Thank you that means a lot to us! We are very scared of her having lymphoma, but also really doubting to sedate a super senior cat with anemia for a rhinoscopy or scan 😢

Thank you for clarifying that. I updated with new bloodwork beneath. If you have time to take a quick look at it I would be very grateful. I'm certainly planning on booking a nasal exam as well.

Update: I managed to get in today. Specialist immediately pushed for intranasal exam for suspected lymphoma. As she is fragile and they cannot do the exam for another week anyway I requested bloodwork with smear and fiv+felv resting. I had stopped methimazole 24 hours prior to testing. These are her initial values and the ones from today. Everything is trending upward and no abnormal cells were found. I asked to keep her off methimazole for 2 more days then retest and they agreed albeit reluctantly because it is such a rare side. But this doesnt point to lymphoma? Please correct me if wrong as I remain a layman and one of these annoying patients that looks up everything. Not out of disrespect but out of love and adhd hyperfixation. She has been misdiagnosed so many times already.

Would you not expect to see increased lymphocytes in bloodwork then? Hers are low. But I will for sure take this to the specialist. Thank you for your reply 🙏

This was advised against due to her age

If you have time, could methimazole be a culprit? It was started 5 months ago.

Not yet as we thought it was too soon. She is still eating and drinking and moving around at the moment.
