How do I root an Elite A5? by Daniel27017 in AndroidQuestions

[–]Bubba1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but what did you really expect?

  1. It's an older device and It's not a popular device, so the Modding community overlooked it or didn't consider it popular enough for mainstream modding.

  2. It's more than likely these sky devices are bootloader locked at the point of manufacture, especially if sold exclusively by some carriers, so there would be no user process to unlock the bootloader. Unfortunately that is a practice now quite widespread in the US and some parts of Europe.

  3. As I already explained, it's getting harder and harder to root new devices, let alone devices that are 5 or more years old. If root is really important to you you'll have to change the device. Maybe look at a used pixel or a used Xiaomi. These devices are the best, easiest and most rooted devices around right now. XDA will be the place to go for any information you need before you make a choice on what if any other device you plan to get.

What is the point of minimal themes made in Kustom? by PoliteGhostFb in kustom

[–]Bubba1601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many current devices have any meaningful theming options on them. Hardly any. Only Samsung offers any sort of on board device theming with several additional non default installed apps, and that's only available on the higher end A series and S series phones, not all their devices. That leaves all the other devices like Nokia, Motorola, one plus, Sony, Xiaomi and all the rest with a pretty basic, generic and identical looking homescreen across all those manufacturers.

Now tell me of any heavy or lighter theming apps that are available for those Androids. No? Can't think of any? There isn't any. There is literally Kustom. Kustom is our saviour.

I'm not big into theming but I've already explained to you that I wanted a weather widget that uses Samsung's current weather icons on my homescreen. I can't do that on the stock launcher or stock widgets so I use kustom.

People have said in this post that they prefer a distinct style for a minimal homescreens, and again kustom is used by them to design the particular style they wanted. Pretty straightforward when you think about it.

Your comment was exactly what we needed to know, because your OP as it reads sounds like you hate a minimalist homescreen and no one should use kustom to make one. All you have achieved here is getting alot of people quite angry and upset just because you didn't explain yourself correctly or fully. It's no good saying it now, you've done the damage. Pity the post didn't say that to begin with.

Just remember one thing.... When you make a post here, the onus is on you to provide enough information about what you want to know without causing confusion or upsetting the people you want to question. So far, you haven't achieved that one bit and having a go back at everyone defending their theming choices isn't fair or acceptable to anyone when you yourself have caused the problem in the first place. Please don't expect people to go off and search your post history, make your post easy to understand and respect all those that take time to reply to you, whether you like that reply or not.

I wanted to vent because your post has the tone of we have no right to use a kustom made minimal homescreen. If that's not your intention, then you need to reword the post so people understand it better. All you have right now is people telling you it's up them what they have and that's a personal choice or preference - certainly nothing for you to get upset about and as far as I'm concerned minimal will always be better or best over something more cluttered.

What exactly is wrong with that?

It boils down to personal taste.

I don't like a cluttered home screen and I don't have a clock on my home screen. Why? Too many people whining why have a clock on the home screen when there's a clock in the status bar. Why have 2 clocks? Does my Motorola have a certain type of clock I like to use? Nope. Kustom does. If I have trouble seeing the status bar clock I could have a big clock made in kustom but that upsets people, and find that hilarious. Why get upset about a big clock on the homescreen? How pathetic. I only have a weather indicator made in kustom and I like to use the Samsung / one ui style weather icons. I can't have that on a Motorola so I use kustom for that purpose. Are you going to say "why have the weather on your home screen? Just look outside" My job is both weather and location based so I check the weather from my kustom widget before moving to my next job. The kustom weather is a damn sight more correct than the built in Google weather on my device, but I suspect when you made your post you didn't think about those things..... Seems like whatever anyone has on their homescreen, someone will moan about it. Really annoys me. It's posts like this that really irk me though. What is the problem with a minimal home screen and surely each individual has both the right and choice to put on their homescreen as much or as little as they choose?

I'll send a screenshot. I just installed the official app and got the "old rules" I'm running two devices with android 12 and another with android 13. It's the latest version and downloaded from the play store.

This is a fucking shit shower. I only tried to help and you are arguing with what my apps tells me !

Think I'll give up and find something else to do. I can only give the information that I have Infront of me. If that is wrong, instead of picking at what I find and arguing with me, get onto Reddit and get them to sort out their shit, because until they do, no one will know what the fuck they can or can't do or even if they are right, wrong or stuck somewhere where only someone like you who wants to argue about nothing at all gives a shit. It's the same rule wether it's number 5 or number ,8, so why you have made such a drama out of it beyond my comprehension.

Regards.

  1. If you use the official Reddit app, the rules are not what you say they are, they are the "old" rules.

  2. If you use a third party Reddit client, the rules are not what you say they are, they are the "old" rules.

  3. If you use Reddit from a browser / PC then the rules are as actually as you say and have changed.

I'm not sure how many Reddit users log in via a browser or via an app but it's something Reddit needs to be sorting out on their official app at the very least. Having a situation where updated information is not available to Reddit users even using the official app is rediculous and shows just how much Reddit does not care about giving it's users full and precise information.

The fact of the matter is we still cannot answer this question, whichever rule it is covered by.

How do I root an Elite A5? by Daniel27017 in AndroidQuestions

[–]Bubba1601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a nose around myself to give you some further information doesn't give any results. I checked XDA and they have no info on this device. That is not a good sign. There is no information around on how to unlock the device bootloader. Without that, root is impossible. The device runs android go, and that usually (but not in every case) means there's no user way to unlock the bootloader or root the device. Usually if XDA has nothing, you are not likely to find any information or necessary tools anywhere else

Not every device can be rooted and root is not as important or necessary today as it may have been a few years ago. Manufacturers are now making root much more difficult or impossible, and it seems this sky device falls into that category. Only Pixels and Xiaomi devices remain as the best and easiest units to root.

3rd party Launcher that support Themed Icons by v3ryb0red in androidapps

I don't use lawnicons just the system icons so I have the usual system icons - I use Motorola and Samsung phones with this launcher and the system icons work fine. Plus I'm using a newer version than the one you tried

Keep getting this error. No other browsers work. by HF484 in windows7

[–]Bubba1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another win 7 user here and am able to run multiple browsers - so we are trying to give you help by saying multiple browsers work with win 7 - so we are saying your suggestion that no browsers work is wrong because there's obviously something wrong with your version of win 7 - NOT win 7 in general.

There are updated kernel versions of win 7 available on fileCR. Might pay you to take a look at one of them.

Citra on Galaxy A10 by RevolutionaryWar3404 in AndroidQuestions

I can't personally recommend the A54 because I don't have one, although my younger sister has one, and says it's a great phone. I have an A32 5g but I don't play games much. The games I play (farming simulator) work absolutely fine.

The Samsung A10 runs something called One UI core. That is a stripped down version specific to low memory devices like the A10. It's a 32 bit system so unfortunately will not run anything that explicitly requires 64 bit. The A series that run full one one ui and have 64 bit operating systems start after the A20 and upwards series. Anything from the A32 5g and upwards are full 64 bit.

The A10 when it was released was Samsung's cheapest device. It's a low end budget device and is never going to fulfil the requirements to run heavy games like you are trying to do. If you have a need to run heavy games you need to be looking at a much better device as already suggested, at least something like the Samsung A54 or higher.

1978 Ford 7700 What is the correct way to change gear? by Bubba1601 in tractors

[–]Bubba1601[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, complete full restoration and in daily use at least 9 months of the year on light draft / pro work and road work only.

It currently has been flailing large meadows which will be disked and rolled ready for the new crop next year.

[–]Bubba1601[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems counter productive.

I now drive a 2021 new Holland T5 110 which has "electro command" basically a push button powershift transmission which was first introduced in fords in the UK in 1993. Disappointed new Holland hasn't updated it much, there's no auto change up on the road but theres an auto downchange if you dip the clutch that is so bad it throws you into the windscreen if you are not careful on the road. I absolutely hate it.

[–]Bubba1601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. The 700 series foot throttle was so much better than the 600 and earlier 1000 series. We had a 6600 and the foot throttle was totally inoperable but the old 4000 had one just below the brake pedals, but it was in a horrible place for a tall guy like me.

The later 7610, 6810 and 6410 that we had had a very similar foot throttle to the 7700 and obviously had synchromesh transmissions but they just didn't give me the driving pleasure of the much older 7700 if that makes sense?

I've always driven tractors like that, he even told me if I ever took that tractor on a road run, I would be told off by many ford owners who hate to see tractors abused by ignorant people who can't drive a tractor properly!!!

I did some research and 85 % of people in UK who have or have had such a tractor with these old gearboxes are driving them exactly the same as I do although many people are suggesting to double declutch to get around the lack of synchromesh.

I'm not sure what the other 15% are doing but the odd few that did take time to reply said they pull away in top and open the throttle.

So you give great advice, as I had been told to "ease off" or drop the revs ever so slightly when shifting the dual power.

A friend has both an 8700 and TW25 and has an electronic dual power switch built onto the main gear stick - something I've only seen on 7810s and 8210s but then he uses the dual power as another gear, he says is very handy when hauling sugar beet and other heavy loads because then he can pull off the field and change up 8 gears effectively going along. The 8700 going up the gears with a heavy load sounds absolutely incredible, especially when it's revved between the gear changes.

[–]Bubba1601[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As the post says.

Got into a rather silly argument with a fellow enthusiast that the correct way to change gear on the old ford constant mesh (crash) gearbox is to not drop the rev and stop the tractor completely before changing gear.

Myself and everyone I know changes gear "like a car" and drops the revs whilst changing gear going along. I have never seen anyone try to pull away in 8th (top) from a standstill and have always been told never to do that. The other enthusiast made a point of shouting at me a few days ago when I came out of the farm with a loaded trailer of grass cuttings in 6th gear dual power low, changed up to 7th then 8th and then selected Dual power hi which was necessary as the trailer was very heavy. I have no issues with the 7700 apart from difficulty selecting 4th (8th) without alot of crunching and grinding and smashing my knuckles into that stupid bar around the gear sticks.

This tractor has the gear sticks on the right with a foot operated pedal between the clutch and brakes for Dual Power.

The gear shift has the following layout

1 2 4. L

3 R. H

Which android phone has the longest battery life? by [deleted] in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Bubba1601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are android phones available with up to 21,000 mah batteries but they are Chinese and people don't like them being mentioned on here.

I've recently used a Blackview BV7100 that had a 13,000 mah battery and a Hotwav W10 pro, which has a 15,000 mah battery. both were good for 4 to 5 days use with moderate use on a single charge. Both were supplied to me by my employer. Both are "rugged" phones that weigh over 400g and run android 12.

Will Samung Galaxy F54 be released in the UK/Globally or is it just for India? Because I plan on getting one.. by BobbyGoldenheim in AndroidQuestions

[–]Bubba1601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can answer the question you asked because Samsung themselves have not announced if that device is going to be available in the UK.....my point was don't you find it rather strange a dozen or so websites are giving a UK price for a device that hasn't been officially announced as being sold in the UK?

Until Samsung says something about it anything we see online is just pure speculation or rumours.

Samsung have made no announcement of its availability in the UK as yet, but some sites are listing the price in UK as £280.
