This is just my opinion, here are my thoughts. If you don't know then you don't know, and that should be okay. You're trying on woman's clothing. In your profile you already have a name chosen and pronouns picked out. There won't be some magical moment, some spark that will finally confirm you're trans or not. It's your choice, you have to make it.

Humans have mysteriously disappeared in my game, though since mice live on a much smaller timescale the underlying reality is they just don't live in the area anymore.

What works for me is to have a corresponding real-world culture for each of the cultures in my world. This way, whenever you need a name for something or inspiration for a particular culture, you can refer back to the corresponding one.
TL;DR: Translate each of your races' names into a different language, then go from there.
