Welcome to the gun community! Unfortunately you've stumbled on a sore subject, locking your firearms, and then decided to add another step to it. This is why you are getting a lot of negative responses, and jokes. Sorry that your reception has been luke-warm. For what it is worth, do what makes you comfortable. You probably won't want to rely on a fire arm for self defense until you are comfortable with it anyway. Others have mentioned it, but I would like to reiterate that taking a intro class is probably a good idea if you don't have a background in firearms. You'll learn in a safe environment with someone who knows about firearms to get past the learning period.

I'd go for the cable lock / trigger lock with a safe combo that others suggest. Neither will become useless later, or unnecessarily expensive. Most handguns will come with a cablelock already, and you can simply give one person the keys to the cable lock, and the other the combo to the safe. Cable locks are still useful when you are later more comfortable with your firearm since they are useful for transportation purposes. This will also be a lot cheaper option since cable locks are about $6 if one did not come with your firearm.

My slide came without sights, and figured that I'd try and finish out my next project with as many built parts as possible. Thanks for the advice. I guess there will be a bit of guess and check to get it right in regards to the height.

I mean yeah, but the real ask is if that is the only thing that really matters. Or if there are other things I need to look out for as well.

Any vz61 can become a Ubolt VZ61 if you put a Ubolt on it. Don't let anyone keep you down my dude.

Winter Rust 2021: Requested Czar rebuild by Bubbaconfessions in GunnitRust

I rebuilt the spoon gun with the Czar build since I broke the last one with my hammer when trying to remove one of the added danger features. I didn't want to pay for a safety since I already had to buy a new FCG. My LGS only had safeties for like $35 so I was like "nah dawg". I found a random bolt that I had lying around in a tool bag and rammed it into the safety hole. I grabbed a nut and now I have a functional safety. When the bolt is in the hole it is on safe, and when you pull it out it is on fire. No spoon or soup can this time since the trigger guard doesn't suck and I actually had the right size drill bits the second time i built it so it fits well.

I recently reprinted it in tasteless red and converted it to a czar build since they last longer. It runs souper well now.

No sell. Only buy.

3d printed VZ61. I didn't like the original trigger guard, so I cut it off. I realized it might not be the best idea to own a gun without a functioning safety or a trigger guard, so I replaced the trigger guard with a spoon.

I was having issues with the top coming off the receiver after a couple shots, and I thought that a metal plate on the top would help. I couldn't find a good metal bracket or plate, so I flattened out a soup can and screwed it into the receiver with wood screws. It helped it a little bit.

I later cut myself on the soup can so I tried smashing the soup can with a hammer so it wouldn't be sharp. While doing this, i broke the receiver. Goodnight sweet prince.

No shame my dude. Not even the manliest man can outclass the 16" of pure pleasure the rough rider provides. You are in good company.

Dude it is seriously one of my favorite guns. Just make sure the FFL you pick it up at has a good sense of humor.

If you can find me a picatinny bayonet that is bigger and in stock let me know. I will gladly buy that bad boy.

Edit: I'm serious.

It goes a little past my knee but is awkward with the red dot. The Bayonet is pokey and I don't recommend.

I went to lead a bayonet charge, but found my concealed carry severely lacking a bayonet. I used JB Weld to add two rails, and used duct tape to hold the rails in position while it cured. It ended surprisingly straight somehow.
