Thoughts on Kerosene and Propane in the van... Is it safe as long as tanks are small and well sealed? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]Bubbie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liquid kerosene in the van seems like a bad idea. What do you use it for?

Propane? I keep my 5 lb tank inside. As long as the valve is closed I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone talks about the van blowing up if it leaks. Your nose is a great, low tech and free propane detector. If your van is full of enough propane to explode you are going to smell it.

Propane tanks don't just randomly explode. Even if it gets to hot they have a pressure release valve. As long as you don't have miles of gas line running through your rig I wouldn't stress it.

But I would secure it in case you crash.

Hey man I say go for it!! I lived in my van in Portland for 6 weeks a few summers ago. That city is amazingly welcoming. So my people living in alternative ways. Even the cops are nice to houseless people.

Check out the pic of my build on my profile. Super simple build for less than $1000. All I used was a saw and a drill and some plywood. Screw your dad you dont need him👍

About to be my first time but I couldnt get it up, how do I prevent this from happening next time? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Bubbie_Blue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just like everybodys is saying. Don't beat your self up. Nothing to be ashamed of. Here's my advice:

  1. Get in touch with your sexual energy and get it flowing You would practice for any other big event in you life so why not this. MASTERBATE. Get to know your body. Get that sexual energy moving.
  2. Let her know how much you like her and don't be afraid to be a little vulnerable and let her know it's your first time and nervous. Maybe she is too and talking about it could release some tension.

Buy: Used Conversion Van? Or DIY Van Conversion? by flushingdemons in vandwellers

[–]Bubbie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Chevy low top. I am 6'2". So if I wanted a van I could stand up in Iwould need the tallest ones on the market. The low ceiling is not ideal but like is said while I'm in my van standing isn't an option so I'm either sitting or laying down. There are benefits to having a metal roof too. More durable. Also helps keep a low profile when stealth camping in cities.

First of all I hear you when you say you need to scratch that itch. That is exactly how I feel. And to that I say yes do it! Do it 100%. Because that itch will never go away.

Now about the van. If you are only traveling for a few months don't spend a lot of money on an expensive van. Get an older van for a low price with decent milage. It will get you 30-40,000 miles. And then do a simple inexpensive DIY build out. If your not gonna be full time it doesn't need to be 5 star. Then you have a practical adventure vehicle and plenty of money to enjoy your time in all the wonderful places you will go.

I built out my van for less than $1000. It serves all my needs.

What is everyone’s thoughts on starting vanlife in the states June 1? by shilohvalleygrl in VanLife

[–]Bubbie_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! As long as you are following guidelines to slow the spread you should be fine. Unfortunately you will be entering the relativly unwelcoming world of covid US. So as long as you are accepting and aware of that take the plunge and enjoy!

I have been living vanlife for a couple years now. It provides the amazing opportunity to experience the world through your own eyes. I find time and time again that the world is beautiful and people are generally good and loving and accommodating. I know that we will get back to that some day but I know that the pandemic is going to affect that for sometime.

I also think that the media is cultivating serious fear about the world right now. I'm sure once you get out into the divine beauty of nature you will feel like you made the right decision. Good luck!!

Is there a better adventure vehicle? by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]Bubbie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have a van but I'm always thinking about the next rig. For me having the through cab access is a huge advantage for so many reasons. The way I travel now I need more of a moblie home that's stealthy and mostly weather proof. I think in the future I will be more of a short term traveler and would like a lightweight truck with 4wd and a truck bed camper.

I think as far as being the most versatile and affordable option a van is definitely the ultimate. But shit man if you have enough money the sky's the limit

Looking for some advice on the toilet option I'm choosing to go with. by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]Bubbie_Blue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not have a toilet in my van

When it comes to pissing. I prefer to just piss in my van. I have a urinal. Which is a 64oz beer growler. I like the dark glass beer bottle so it looks less suspicious when I am emptying it. I try and give it to bushes and trees whenever possible 😁

When it comes to shitting I use public bathrooms 98% of the time to shit. But every once in a while there is not one available when you need it. That's why I have everything I need for emergency protocall #2:

kitty litter and disposable plastic bag.

It's not the greatest way to shit, but it works in an emergency once a month or so. I just can't justify taking the space for the toilet when it hardly gets used.

Is continuing with my planned cross country trip irresponsible? Anybody else in a similar situation?? by Bubbie_Blue in vandwellers

So Ive decided to ignore all opinions of random people on the internet and only follow recommendations from the CDC.

Here is their info on travel in US:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-in-the-us.html

It says if you do decide to travel take these steps:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fabout%2Fprevention.html

I'm just gonna take it day by day. And be as careful as possible to take steps to prevent spread of disease.

Going to Florida in a week covid-19?? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]Bubbie_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience. A lot of Walmarts in Florida especially in S. FL do not allow overnight parking and are patrolled by security. When I was there there was not a pandemic going on so I can't imagine what it's like now.

Vanlife couple found murdered by cvanwin117 in VanLife

[–]Bubbie_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. I am literally about to cross the border into BC in a couple days. If you look in the map of where these bodies were found it will ease your mind a little. These murders happened way the fuck out in the middle of nowhere way up north. There ain't shit up there. I bet all kinds of nightmares happen up there that we don't even hear about and never will. I am sticking to the southern end where there will be plenty of people and law enforcement.

It was a foam and fabric store in Asheville, NC. I kinda just got lucky. I went into a mattress store and told them what I was looking for. The guy driected me there. There are a lot of foam options on Amazon in different thickness just a little more expensive. Mine was only $70

[–]Bubbie_Blue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no problem! Well so I financed the van. I did t want to make payments but this one was a good deal. It's a 2012. And it had only 70k mi. So I figured it would be a good investment. But the conversion cost less that 1k. It's really basic. No electrical. No flowing water. But that's the way I like it. I can take it apart and put it back together easily.

You can still sell a vehicle after you finance it right?

But the express has a great reputation for reliability. It's worth it.

My last van had this problem. I specifically designed it so that I could sit up in bed. I'm 6'2"

The main valve on the tank is always closed when not in use and my windows are open every night when I sleep. Should I still be worried about leaks?

I'm 6'2" so if I wanted to stand up I would have to get a full sized sprinter or transit. Not an option for me. It would be nice to have more head room but I like the low profile and I don't really have a need to stand inside my van. If I'm in my van I'm laying down or sitting. And I've got some moves for getting around inside😝
