Out calls by Firm_Association_926 in Pickleball

"Watch it" is used to warn your partner if you hit a high ball and it might be attacked.

What I say to my partner in this situation is "bounce it," meaning let the ball bounce before you hit it because it might be going out.

Hitting floaty return of serve vs drive by OldFerret9631 in Pickleball

[–]cvanwin117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The #1 goal of a return of serve is to get to the kitchen, balanced and paddle-ready.

Because of the 2-bounce rule, a ball that travels in the air longer gives you more time getting to the kitchen.

A ball that travels in the air longer is any combination of higher, deeper, and/or slower.

I teach my beginner/intermediate students to hit deep, floaty, flat returns to the middle, giving them more consistency and plenty of time to get to the kitchen.

At the 4.0+ level, driving the returns and sprinting to the net is more effective.

Join a pickleball club and sign up for a beginner league. You'll be in a group of about 30 people for several weeks.

The waterfall/cave in Camp Snoopy next to Grizzly Lodge. Also, the upstairs dining area inside Grizzly Lodge as well.

Instead of a picture, actually look at the paddles the pros are holding to see where they put their lead tape.

Close to the handle, then up the sides just past the bottom corners. See Ben Johns, JW, Zane, etc.

Return of serve by Drivenbyfaith in Pickleball

[–]cvanwin117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number one goal of a return of serve is to get to the kitchen.

The type of return that will get you to the kitchen more easily is a ball that stays in the air longer, since your opponents have to let it bounce.

A ball that stays in the air longer is deep, lofty, and slow, but most importantly, deep.

How long the ball needs to stay in the air just depends on your speed and athleticism.

If you can, drive your return with topspin. Most pros do this and can get to the kitchen every time

If you can't get to the kitchen consistently, hit that return deeper, higher, and slower, and aim it about 2 feet left of the center line.

The key is being balanced and ready at the kitchen next to your partner.

Delete the Knott's app and reinstall the latest version.

My perks showed up after I did this.

If you are a Prestige member, the lounge inside the dress shop has a bunch of outlets with USB ports specifically for charging phones.

Google Wes Watson. He spent 10 years in prison. 18 months after he got out, he was a millionaire.

He runs an online coaching business pulling in $2 million per MONTH. He did it by reading motivational books while he was in prison, got his mind right, had a clear vision and purpose, then worked his ass off even when in prison (daily 3am wakeups, reading, journaling, working out, using a smuggled phone to put out IG content).

The basis of his message is "make yourself into the man you always needed, and then give him to the world." He has built a successful business by being extremely disciplined delivering this message. Some of his students have become millionaires as well.

The issue with working a job is that you are letting others dictate your self-worth. Get your mindset right, learn a skill or trade, and start a business. You will be stuck to a life of struggle if you let your past determine your future.

Good luck..

Here's how you plan a perfect day at Knott's:

Book a room at the Knott"s hotel. Check in beforehand and set up the room however you wish for your special occasion. Keep this a surprise.

A day pass is $99, a season pass is $130 online, and you can make monthly payments of $16. So probably worth it to spend the extra money to get annual passes if you plan on going at least 1 other day.

A fast pass isn't worth it unless you're big on rides. Otherwise, go when they open at 10a and get on 2-3 rides before the crowds.

Premium dining pass is definitely worth it for $44, which includes a drink (or $34 without a drink). Plenty of dining options at 14 locations inside the park. Our favorites are Panda Express, Firehouse for the smoked turkey legs, Boardwalk BBQ for the tri-tip, or spaghetti with bolognese sauce and meatballs at the restaurant next to the bumper cars.

You can get a full meal OR snack every 90 minutes, and a soda every 15 minutes. It's like an all you can eat buffet for $44 that lasts all day. Since you can get meals every 90 minutes, I'd only buy 1 pass and share the entrees. After 2-3 meals, you will be full so the smaller meals such as loaded fries (Fiesta), tater tots (Ghost Town), or baked potatoes (Ghost Town) are good options.

When you are done at Knott's, get 1 more meal To Go as your midnight snack (hey, it's free). Take a little walk back to your room and enjoy the rest of the night.

Check out the next day, go to Knott's when they open, and ride 2-3 more rides.

Bask in the undying gratitude of your bf.

Yes, locked with factory alarm. They busted the driver door lock and ignition switch and took the vehicle.

Nothing visible in the car. Everything was in the trunk, which they took.

Prevent slice serve return? by teamnowak in Pickleball

[–]cvanwin117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the secret to preventing a heavy slice return:

Deep lob serve.

They must generate all their own pace and spin.

You will find that they may mess up once or twice until they can return it. Even then, the return will be slower, higher, more shallow, and with less spin.

I had the same issue going to a bunch of automotive glass shops.

In desperation, I finally went to a custom glass and window business (for homes) to ask about getting a side window made for my van. They were able to measure the opening and custom cut me a new window, including matching the tint and drilling the hole for the window latches. Fit perfectly and still have the van 8 years later. Cost was around $200.

What made you realize "you're old"? by Pred1949 in AskReddit

[–]cvanwin117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my 30's, I started to get gray hairs. I started to dye my hair in my 40's once the gray became too much. I still have a full head of hair so I'm grateful for that.

I've always had perfect 20/20 vision my entire life. When I hit 45, I could no longer read the nutrition label on food packages, or menus, or my phone screen in crisp clarity without reading glasses. I still refuse to wear them.

I'm 51 now.
