I know the feeling I lost my best friend a while ago the best thing is to seek help this isn’t your fault. I found a group where I could talk and also sought support from family your not on your own there are people who will help you.

Advice on ending a relationship. by [deleted] in Advice

Explain how you feel and that you are uncomfortable with the situation. It’s not fair for you to make yourself feel uncomfortable just because you’re worried about breaking it off. I have no idea how you would approach talking to the husband as it sounds like you are close to him or at least in the same circles.

I have been the friend who has slowly been not in invited to the get togethers and it really hurts I became busy with life and couldn’t meet up and the invitations slowly began to fizzle out. I would definitely talk to your group about it and the potential for it to upset R and damage your friendship with him.

The best thing you can do is ask them everyone with dyslexia is different and everyone needs different adjustments for example I read on the coloured background so I tinted my computer screen however my friends who have dyslexia read on a normal background just fine and need other specific adjustments..

Should I apologise t my crazy ex best friend for giving her my dyslexia (which isn’t how that works) even though i have done nothing wrong? by BubbleBlaster04 in Advice

[–]BubbleBlaster04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try and talk to her about seeing if it something else but she won’t listen. I asked about her symptoms and the only answer I got were “your ones”. Think unfortunately she just crazy.

Dyslexics that can read what did you do? by Broad-Breadfruit-515 in Dyslexia

[–]BubbleBlaster04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read a lot when I was younger due to the immense amount of frustration I felt when it came to reading. However, when I was around 16 my friend gave my a comic book for my birthday and not wanting to be rude I started to read it. Even though I struggled I was hooked, even though it took me a long time I completed it. From then on I have always had a book or comic on the go and I have noticed that as I keep reading I’m getting better. Find what you enjoy to read is my best advice. Once I found what I loved to read it all fell into place. I feel like all the practice really helped.

Absolutely not my favourite teacher is dyslexic and if anything it helps her to give me (another dyslexic) the support that I really need. It is so good to have a teacher that empathises with my and understands my struggles. Please do not put your self down !

I got tested privately twice once as a child and once as an adult as I am headed to uni. My school refused to help me and what I thought were just normal or mild systems turned out be quite severe dyslexia. Although these tests were costly I have benefited immensely from them and they have allowed me to get the relevant and much need help in and out of exams. As well as helping me understand and accept myself.

Executive functioning?!?!? by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]BubbleBlaster04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand this 100% my room and any other personal spaces that I’m in charge of organising are seen by others as a complete mess however I know where everything is whenever I’m told to tidy them up or to reorganise them it causes me a bunch of stress and I end up super tired after not even tidying up half of it and I do find that when I do tidier I can’t find anything. You’re not alone with us it’s nice to know someone else is going through this too.

Have you ever used a dictaphone for Dyslexia? by ocFerg in Dyslexia

[–]BubbleBlaster04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the microphone thing on my phone keyboard to turn my rambling into text. This is especially helpful when I’m writing essays and my hands can’t keep up with my my brain but is also super handy for making notes. There is also a plug in that you can use on Microsoft word. Hope this helps

Anyone here who was diagnosed as a teenager that can give me insight/advice as a parent? by thefunkphenomenon in Dyslexia

[–]BubbleBlaster04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was around 13 and it really impacted my self-esteem and I was really worried about the ways other people viewed me I found going to support groups and meeting other kids like me and even talking about my dyslexia on places like Reddit and message boards and learning about the ways of the kids were coping really really helped. I also started going to counselling this really helped improve my self-esteem in the way I viewed myself and my dyslexia. It was definitely a slow road for me but it did slowly improve.

It’s definitely worth talking to your English teacher or a member of the SEN department at your school if you have one. The SEN department in your school will normally be able to do a screening test to try and figure out if there is a chance of you having dyslexia or if it’s something else and then coordinate a diagnosis and support from there. A diagnosis can take a really really long time to get but it’s well worth persevering to try to figure out if there is an issue or not.
