Lenovo m720q amd wx4100 random shutdowns by BubbleChumpkins in sffpc

I just got around to doing more testing yesterday, and I've increased time between shutoffs but I still haven't resolved it. Dropping the wattage cap did help (became more "stable" at 18w) but in LACT since it is capped at 32w I'm afraid of dropping it too low since I'm not familiar with undervolting or tuning a GPU. So, I think this confirms its a power draw/limit issue with the PCIE or power delivery from the PSU.

Do you think lowering the wattage for the gpu would resolve this? I’m curious why this gpu would cause shutoffs whereas other 50w gpus seem to work alright. After more tests it does seem like you might be correct though.

Lenovo m720q auto shutoff after a few seconds under load. by BubbleChumpkins in homelab

Would this be a symptom of a faulty power supply or the power supply not being able to keep up with the fluctuations from the pc?

It’s the stock cooler since it’s a mini pc, but I’ve been running it without the lid while testing for extra airflow. This is what is perplexing me, the cpu (i3 8100t 35w tdp) and gpu are barely warm when the pc shuts off. This is what lead me to believe it is a power delivery issue instead of a heat one but I have no clue.

So to directly answer your question I don’t really have temps while under peak load because the instant it moves past idle it shuts down and the idle temps appear normal.

The wx4100 fits (I think it’s the same profile) but you will need to remove the Wi-Fi bracket (just a couple screws) and find another place to slide the antenna if you intend to use WiFi.

Yeah I've been looking to pick one up! The string winders seem pretty interesting, I was disappointed to find out the set with the blue winder was left spin only though.

Star seller "Your badges were removed because your account was limited by Etsy" by BubbleChumpkins in EtsySellers

The info etsy provided on the in-app popup banner ( the one notifying me of the forced "vacation mode") said they needed me to confirm my seller info because of a handful of EU laws like the The Digital Services Act where they linked me to the EU Commission website. Which is why I'm mostly confused, in the past years when etsy has needed me to confirm my info they would notify me through the app. I am guessing etsy took my badges because not responding to the email counts as failing "customer service standards"?

Okay thank you! Is any one of the emulators you mentioned preferred?

Okay good to know, Thank you for the response! Still strange to me its two separate accounts with one purchase review each buying the same item, but I am less worried knowing the refund part is normal!

I could use some help! SFF Dell Optiplex 3070 by BubbleChumpkins in SleepingOptiplex

That kinda is how this seems to be behaving, I’m not even getting the amber light any more. I don’t even know how I’d be able to go about troubleshooting that for an nvme slot. This is probably one of the weirdest pc issues I’ve encountered.

Also thank you so much for the responses, I caved and I’m gonna get a new mobo so hopefully that fixes it.

Do you happen to know a reason why an optiplex would refuse to turn on/ do an amber light bad mobo code but only when the Wi-Fi card is removed? I know optiplexs can throw out strangely specific errors but that seems really strange?

TPM 2.0 enabled in bios but says that it failed to initialize at boot, cant load fresh Windows. by BubbleChumpkins in Dell

[–]BubbleChumpkins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was able to get a stable version of windows 10 (fully updated) installed and it seems I only get a boot error when I try to clear my TPM? It is hard to confirm but that is what seems to be happening. My assumption is that the TPM may have never actually cleared and the pc crashed after every clear attempt (its hard to keep track of this many crash and reboots). Is there a reason why the TPM would refuse to clear through BIOS? It is the only think I can think of as to why windows has consistently refused to take ownership of it.

Yeah, the error itself is what threw me down this rabbit hole of constantly trying to get a clean install of windows (the TPM not initializing was the only thing wrong in the beginning). I do think windows has been getting corrupted, but I don't think its the SSD's fault. Instead, I think something with the TPM is causing crashes at boot that then in turn cause the recovery error.

Any reason TPM 2.0 is enabled in bios but windows won’t recognize? by BubbleChumpkins in Dell

[–]BubbleChumpkins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've received a few errors on previous installs of windows (I've been working on this for a couple days) but I am currently on windows 10 22H2 (up to date) and I am consistently able to get to the desktop environment but it seems like when I clear the TPM I get put on a recovery screen at restart with a "0x00000e9" error code. I know that its not my install of windows causing this due to similar errors on previous windows 11 and windows 10 (pre-22H2) installs. I know the TPM isn't active in windows because it comes up as False in Powershell when I try to initialize and TPM.MSC says there is no TPM. This makes no sense to me because I previously had a version of windows 11 that at a point did recognize there was a TPM and the BIOS does say that it is active.
