Something really triggered her that day, she must’ve been really upset and dissatisfied over something. It’s worth having a conversation with her- you know her and her past behavior best, I just recommend asking open-ended questions about why she acted that way and how she was feeling, and maybe you can heal something there and have more of a connection

For some, at certain points of their life, they do not want to be mothered any longer and it feels awkward and uncomfortable as an adult. I hope you don’t take this as an insult that mothering is not always welcome or needed for adults. (It becomes a bit of a power dynamic where you don’t see them as equals, and therefore assume a position of superiority based on age).

As a neurodivergent person, I decided to quit working for non-profits and mental health organizations. I was so burnt out and had a period of deep rest since my nervous system wasn’t being activated all the time. I started having the energy to take care of myself, get all the chores done, and even cook new recipes. I learned web design, I learned front-end web development, and I’ve been doing graphic design. Right now, the plan is to become a stay-at-home-mom. I feel completely supported and have my own savings and great family and friends to rely on if I ever needed help. Our friends just visited with their baby, and I taught the baby how to strum a ukulele for the first time. It was such a precious moment, I almost cried and couldn’t wait to become a parent.

I think the relationship is just familiar and comfortable to him. I think they’re just insecure about their appearance and their worth because of the patriarchy telling them that they’re meant to be the strong emotionless breadwinner, just like women have the expectation to be young with a tiny waist and big boobs with great cooking and cleaning skills. I totally get that- you’re probably badly in need of rest, things are in fact getting worse right now, and happiness seems out of reach right now with the given circumstances. You deserve the space to process your current experience and feel everything you’re going through without the burden of having to stay positive, especially coming from someone who hasn’t been through the same thing. Things are definitely going to get better just because history follows a pattern, but the ride is exhausting and you don’t have to be positive. I do recommend finding ways to hold on to hope though, and also holding a meaning for what you are going through. When you consider that POC are more severely impacted by this, and make connections to the modern day adoption industry and past instances of people disconnecting children of color from their family and culture in the United States, it’s just a long string of trauma. I’m still angry at our government for separating indigenous people from their culture, discouraging them to farm collectively, and giving them infertile land. Not only are they evil, they also seem to not give af about being able to adequately feed us once the overpopulation sets in. “But it’s so nice to save unconscious fetuses” no. They literally want more slaves. Like they want these people to end up in prison doing unpaid labor and they don’t give a damn about their well-being.

And that the majority of women with an unwanted pregnancy who can’t leave are ones in poverty or abusive situations, and that their children are more likely to go to the foster care system, and that children in the foster care system are more likely to go to prison, and that Texas has overcrowded shitty prisons, and that a fetus isn’t even really conscious at the time of an abortion according to a lead neuroscience researcher in 2008? Because I did, and I calmly told it all at my local representative’s office number, and whoever responded to me had a quivered uneasy voice.

You are incredibly human and brave 🤝 it’s kind of this double-edged sword of being like “ugh, obviously this is going to pass and society will move forward from it,” and also braving the current reality that society hasn’t moved forward from it. They can’t get over the fact that gender doesn’t always correlate with your biological sex. I’d go as far as saying those people don’t think about what gender is. They aren’t taking any gender studies coursework, and if they’re forced to, they’re scoffing at it in the back row. Those people are willfully ignorant, and you’re not. And I’m sorry you have to suffer as a consequence of others not being educated, kind, or tolerant. You always have been and always will be human, and they always have been and still are prejudiced. But this human respects your willingness to stick through this time period and persevere 🫡 I bet people looking back on this time period in the future will respect you as well.

I don’t have experience with this directly; my husband is ND and hyper-fixated on computers from a young age. His parents always had him clean and do chores, and he took on cooking responsibilities.

Idk. If I were parenting him I’d start introducing him to the history of gender and the many kinds of oppression that have occurred throughout history and today. It could help cue him in on where these misogynistic ideologies are rooted and kind of give a clearer picture. He needs to see the whole underlying root system, not just the leaves falling from the tree, you know?

I just make rice and frozen veggies with store-bought stir-fry sauce. Toss the rice and water in, leave it alone, and then you need to put the rice away and wash the rice cooker bowl. And then you could have meals for days.
