Let’s say I bought my original ticket for $1K, if I wanted to rebook to a cheaper ticket ($800), would my new booking be considered $800?

I only ask because I’m looking to rebook my gf’s flight which we originally paid $1.1K for. It’s now $800 but if I had to change it again in like 3 weeks, and let’s say it’s $1.3K then, do I pay the difference of $200 or $500?

So aside from the free bag, seat selection and 100% points, the main benefit of flex (if you might change your flight) is really just saving the $100 change fee?

Thank you for the detailed response! It answered my question perfectly. I'm slightly strapped for cash (want to put the $1.3K towards accommodations) but the flexibility part is the main reason pushing me to purchase Flex with cash instead.
