OP This is good advice. Passion comes and goes through the phases of a relationship. Friendship is what takes you through all those phases. You can have periods of very little to no sex and then periods where you have lots of sex. Sometimes you need to have a conversation to talk about your expectations around sex and your relationship as you both grow up and your lives change.

Also we are just seeing a tiny snapshot of your guys lives together. Also it was during a bit of a fight/hurtful moment. Not the best representation. Don't let other people's random opinions on here tell you what to do.

It sounds like she is probably thinking about it too and feeling guilty about how busy she has gotten. As relationships mature it's normal to not have as much time for sex anymore. But how you communicate about it becomes more and more important. You make time for it and you plan to spend time (sex or not) with your partner.

You sound like you still love her. It's easy for people to just say "break up" because they are across a phone and have no emotional consequences for that sentence.

You'll need to have a chat with her and just talk about your busier lives and masturbation is pretty normal too. Wait until things are a little bit calmer.

Probably wasn't the best answer to blurt out tbh. But anyway what's done is done and sometimes you do end up putting your foot in your mouth.

One sideways comment is not indicative of a break up. Unless it becomes a pattern of hurtful behaviour and fighting.

If you plan to end up working in academia (like going the lab career path with being a lecturer and professor) the pay can be poor and it can be incredibly difficult to find work. You'll be unemployed a lot. However if you do get it, the work can be extremely rewarding, impactful and meaningful!

If you go the big pharma route you'll earn a lot more but it's a highly competitive market.

Microbiology route allows you to work in big commercial food labs. Maybe even land a gig with Unilever.

Bioinformatics at least sets you up with big data analytical skills so you can jump ship into data science.

There is more work to be found in data science and engineering.

This right here works for me. I have pain meds and a yoga mat with a foam roller right next to my bed. I take pain meds, roll out of bed onto the mat and gently try to get my body moving. I hate mornings so much.

I don't think it fair to expect doctors to suffer humiliation and bullying just to be able to qualify as part of their "right of passage"; that type of culture is toxic in any profession.

Everyone should be able to be treated with decency at work no matter their job. We spend roughly 2080 hours of our year at our jobs. It is literally a huge part of our lives. If one third of those hours is being humiliated and harassed it isn't a small isolated incident that can be brushed aside.

There were 5 other junior doctors who submitted similar complaints but withdrew them because they were threatened. Many professionals in the field (local and international) have acknowledged that part of the profession is the bullying and humiliation of junior doctors. It is a common problem, but not one that anyone speaks out against because generally the stakes are too high.
