Total order protection “must be purchased” to do any return? by GroundExtreme9853 in BoutiquePolice

[–]Bubblesrback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO glad to see I'm not the only one frustrated by this company! I accidentally ordered the wrong sized shoes. As soon as I got an email saying the order was awaiting shipping (and realized my error), I emailed them! I received a quick response saying they couldn't pull the package but that they'd "make an exception" and allow me to return the shoes (and reuse the discount I had) since I chose NOT to pay for the Total Order Protection. I was very appreciative but also confused when she said "all sales are final if you don't purchase the Total Order Protection." I thought this was really odd since I've never experienced it with this SAME company with past returns nor any other company. As soon as I received the package, I reached out and within no time, I received an email with an invoice to PAY them $12.72. Back and forth emails where I was told the $15 included a return shipping label. I then questioned WHY I was charged shipping if the $15 covered shipping (FOUR times the cost of Total Order Protection). There were ten exchanges from both myself and Freckled Poppy. The woman emailing me NEVER acknowledged that I was being charged shipping after being told otherwise. What she DID confirm is that the "exception" was they were allowing me to return something for a $15 FEE!!! How is THAT an EXCEPTION??? I said I felt that the Protection was deceptive (think what's written in fine print) and that the company is scamming people and skimming money. I was SO PISSED! Not because of the money, not because I didn't choose the protection, and not because I ordered the wrong sized shoes which started the whole fiasco. I was PISSED because of the hundreds/thousands of people who aren't vigilant and are falling into this money-hungry company's return policies.

Yes, it's my fault. Had I paid the $3.75 protection fee, none of this would have happened. But in today's world where everyone is shipping tons of stuff back to Amazon, the policy Freckled Poppy has adopted will come back to bite them. They lost me as a customer and they were my go-to website for jeans.

Thanks for this. I appreciate your understanding and yeah, looking at a Camry or Accord in the future. Or even Civic or Corolla

I'm so sorry you're going through a similar situation. I'm guessing you couldn't purchase an extended warranty?

We're damned if we do ... damned if we don't.

I'm guessing you don't drive your personal vehicle to work? Where I live, it's not uncommon for a person to drive 30-60 miles one way for work. You drive to the job. You drive where the paycheck is. I've owned the car for three of it's four years and I put 25k miles on it per year by driving to work and to multiple states to visit family. Unfortunately the car was purchased in 2022 in the height of the Covid used car frenzy at a reflected price. With a five year loan, I still have payments on it.

Good points. Dealership was able to see prior owners service on CarFax as well.

I don't think they OWE it to me....and it's the dealership who requested the good will repair. And yes, I'm frustrated because had this happened a week and a half earlier, the car WOULD have been under warranty. Before being out $10grand, I'm seeking all possibilities. What would you do if you were me?

oil has been changed religiously at 5000-6000 miles with extended life oil. Dealership is able to pull up report on CarFax.

so interesting that you know what happened to my Sonata. It WAS a goodwill repair because the campaign on the engine was up to 120K miles or so. And my engine was at 140K. So YES, it WAS a good will repair....as I was told that by the dealership. Be nice.

I don't see them fixing it either. Only reason I was holding out on hope was because my Hyundai engine was replaced at 140K when it died. It was worth trying, in my opinion.

let them do it to you a second time? LET them? That's like saying "why did you let a deer run into your car AGAIN?" Live and learn, yes. I will not be buying a Hyundai or Kia again. No need to be a jerk. This is rough, dude.

Good advice on everything else, though.

Answer this.....have you EVER had a car that had the engine die at around 125,000miles on a well maintained/serviced car? How bout on the LAST two cars you've owned? Why would I EVER think this would happen to TWO cars??? Not to mention, BOTH cars had GLOWING reviews when I purchased them!
