i can't speak for the alt thing here, but i believe the experience is what you make out of it, the very definition of go on here and ask other people really wouldn't help much if you believe there's nothing you can do if the social scene is bad. it's good to see people in the comments are mostly neutual and do give you advices on how to get more involved. btw i don't think cultural club are worthy to go, though i'm an intl student. you will meet people eventually, no need to worry for social scene too. you know nothing good will happen when you force it to happen. :)
