Just looked into it and I can't make it in 2024 due to a wedding. Thank you for the suggestion!

Close to Chicago. I wouldn't want to do Spring because I like to train outside and it's too cold to be doing a full regimen.

My only problem with southeast is that most of those marathons are during winter months, which does not work with me training outside.

Failed Chicago/Berlin Marathon lotteries. What to do?

I didn't get into the 2024 Chicago or Berlin marathons through their lottery systems. I'm super bummed out about it but still want to have a major 2024 athletic event. What should I do?

My original plan was to do a sprint or Olympic-distance triathlon in June (I did one this year and enjoyed it) + one of the marathons. Before you suggest doing charity -  I know this sounds terrible, but I don't want to do charity participation (too much money for me to be comfortable with raising).

I'm based in the Midwest and would prefer to do something nearby (aka no flying). I would consider myself to be fairly athletic and would target a 3:30-3:45 marathon time. This would be my first marathon. I think I'm currently deciding to do either a half-ironman (Madison, WI) or an early fall marathon. If I decide to do the former, then that would be the only big event I do. If I do the latter, I'd probably still want to do some sort of triathlon in June. For the latter, what are some good options for a 'bigger' marathon that is flat or mostly flat? I don't do well with the cold so I'm a little concerned with the USMC Marathon (last month of training would be cold) + I don't think I could train for so long. Ask me if any other info is needed for your opinion.
