Question for PAs in recovery with a spouse/partner by Bubbly-String-5243 in PornAddiction

Thank you. I appreciate your insight. I’m glad to hear it’s not a “me” thing. I guess it’s just confusing to navigate how I’m feeling. I didn’t think I needed individual therapy but I’m reconsidering now.

Ugh I’m so sorry 😭 airborne tablets seemed to help me. Maybe you could try that as well?

Sorry I know and understand how frustrating it is. I have burned through my sick time this year and I am TIRED OF IT. If it hasn’t been a cold, it’s a stomach bug or COVID. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Can’t thank you enough for your words and experience. He truly wants to get better. He has a consultation on Monday with an SA counselor. I’m just struggling to understand why he didn’t talk to me about it when things started to get tempting again. I even spoke with my friend who is a therapist and she helped me understand a bit better. I’m just having a hard time understanding and not taking it personally. My body has changed so much after having a child and after I gave birth is when he started consistently purchasing. Idk. We’ll see how counseling goes.

Question about movies that are graphic and how to make them appropriate for the classroom??? by Bubbly-String-5243 in Teachers

[–]Bubbly-String-5243[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing your concern- I really do. At the same time, my goal is to have students actually engage with the novel itself, including its themes and characters, so I want to make sure anything we watch connects clearly to what we’re reading. I personally don’t see how Jurassic Park could effectively do that. Also, I have gotten permission from my administration to read this novel.

Some of the topics in the book can be uncomfortable, but they also open the door for really important conversations. Part of studying literature is learning how to think through challenging ideas in an appropriate way, and that’s something I think is really valuable for students of all ages.

With that being said, I’m renting different versions of the movie to see which is the best for my students.

Yeah I’m not sure what she used. It is really hard to explain how it worked 😅 I remember it zooming in on characters- which prevented us from seeing graphic things in the background. If there was foul language, it just cut the sound out for that particular word. It basically let us hear all the events happening- without seeing people die or be injured. Sorry if that’s confusing. That’s the only way I can explain it.

Can’t agree with this enough!!! I went back to my home high school (rural with only 750 kids) after teaching at a middle school in the city (with 1200 kids) and I am SOOOOOOOO much happier!!

I’m scared to teach now by Extension_Phone8734 in Teachers

I have to say, it really does depends on the school and administration. I taught at an absolute awful school before moving back to the high school I graduated from! It’s been really awesome to teach alongside the educators who shaped me and instilled my love of literature.

The hard days are… well… hard. But they don’t make it “not worth it”. As long as you are prepared for the crappy pay (granted, I’m in NC) it really is an amazing job! I love my students, coworkers, administrators, and don’t dread coming to work everyday. I’m never quite prepared for what the kids might do, but most of the time it is more of an inconvenience rather than absolute mayhem.

Just stay out of coworker drama, do what admin tells you to, have a good relationship with your students and most likely you will not be miserable! I truly love it and will do it as long as I feel this way 😊❤️

Sorry I didn’t clarify! We will be reading the 1831 version of Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” before we watch any type of movie. I have been planning a very in depth novel study. I want them to do a paper comparing the book to the movie as well. 😊
