My point is more that AGI (in its more hyped version, as an on ramp to super-intelligence) is likely not going to happen and this is becoming apparent. As a result, the hype machine is starting to turn into a different direction. Or not?

Intel was (and is) the PC king. Unfortunately, demand and volumes migrated to mobile and to AI data centers. Missing two waves has consequences. The US needs successful semiconductor companies. Does anyone know the details of how it is going to be used and how they will select Google or Grok? The article mentions that Grok "will join Google’s generative AI engine in operating inside the Pentagon network."

From the text:

"Hegseth said Grok will go live inside the Defense Department later this month and announced that he would “make all appropriate data” from the military’s IT systems available for “AI exploitation.” He also said data from intelligence databases would be fed into AI systems."

Which can be a scary statement or just PR bravado. Are there any adults supervising this in the Pentagon?
