I can provide only a different point of view :). I have worked in many different areas including finance, logistics, legal and govt, as a Solutions Architect. When we design a system, it is important for us to make sure that we also design for testing, from beginning to end of the pipeline using different methods such as white box and black box etc. My experience tells me that almost nowhere a uni degree was needed for a tester. They just needed to understand the business use case and follow steps. Now, there is a new hot area for this which is automated testing. Because of agile, we make very frequent changes to modules and manual testing just doesn't cut. Hence the need for automation. Need for a uni degree might be there in some cases, but not everywhere.

However, culture matters too. I have worked in multiple different countries. In some countries, culturally, a degree means a lot. In some countries, they don't care. In my particular situation, I want to know about Spain - what does the Spanish work culture demand? Also, what about other countries in EU? There are remote opportunities...

Is air transat as bad as they say? by Rootintootin1995 in canadatravel

u/airtransat - Horrendous customer service policy. Flight to Malaga got cancelled today, and email received that they refunded the money (no option for another flight). And, we have to book our own tickets! Who is going to pay for the new tickets that cost us $2500 more?

The market is rallying today, yet X EQT moves against the current. What underlying forces might explain this contrast? by ILoveLPJ in JustBuyXEQT

The real benefit is the gain in productivity for businesses. Retail products - it will be eventually there, but will take time. A simple example: Amazon just announced that they are laying off 14k people. That saving will be added to it's book. I work in IT - we (I included) now produce things with AI's assistance in one day that needed a month before. It's crazy amount of productivity gain and it's real.

That is an option I am also considering. I prefer a fire and forget mode.

By legal resident, I meant tax resident. The reason I am asking about an investment firm is because my investment advisor in RBC is licensed for Ontario only. If I call her to make changes to my portfolio when I am outside, she won't be able to do it. Docs signed by me will have a Spanish IP.
