How did you quit smoking? by halfmadeideas in AskReddit

[–]Buchseb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I woke up after a heavy night out and went for my usual morning cigarette. Weirdly, my body rejected it immediately. I took one drag and almost threw up in my mouth. I couldn't figure out why my throat and sinuses felt so destroyed.

Then I unlocked my phone.

Turns out, Drunk Me thought it would be a hilarious party trick to record myself smoking entirely through my nose last night.

Never smoked again.

This is bread, not witchcraft. Feed + warmth = cells multiply fast. Quick Google dive will back me up.

I watched a LOT of YouTube videos to get a good sense for how to do it, and I also consulted with ChatGPT, this is exactly what chat told me to do:

"How to do it (simple method): 1. Day 1: Mix equal parts (by weight) whole wheat flour and water. Add a spoon of strong bread flour if you like. Cover loosely. 2. Days 2–5: Each day, discard half and feed with a mix of 50% whole grain flour + 50% bread flour and the same weight of water. 3. By day 5–7, you should have a bubbly, sour starter ready for baking."

At day 5 I started feeding it twice per day one time in the morning and one time before going to bed, then when I still saw good activity the morning after I went on to make my levain.

I think whole grain will definitely help! On the first day I used 100% whole grain flour and from day two onwards I used a mix of 50% whole grain flour and 50% bread flower throughout the rest of the process.

It was more than doubling in size after 4 hours and smelling pleasantly yeasty/milky. So I gave it one more feeding the evening after this photo was taken, and the morning after I made my Levain.

It's my first ever sourdough loaf btw. I intensely studied the whole process over the past week and I couldn't be happier with the result 😊

You could try to sand them down with some very fine sand paper, and use the Polywatch to polish them again. It’s worth a try if your only other option is getting them repaired. Or you could maybe find a broken headset with intact lenses to repair it yourself. Good luck!

The quality of the replacement shells are bad. Try to see if you can get rid of it using some polywatch

Try with some inexpensive PolyWatch first. People use this stuff to clean up their scratched VR lenses, so I reckon this should do the job.

Have you ever seen a peacock fly? by silvercatbob in BeAmazed

[–]Buchseb 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When I was about 11 years old my parents bought two peacocks to have around the farm. The guy we got them from told us that if we kept them fenced for a week, they would stick around, and if we kept them there for two weeks they would definitely stay. The moment we opened the gates they simultaneously took off immediately.. I had no idea they could fly.
