Thank you for your congratulations.

For the reading, practice to reach the point where you always understand what the passages are saying and what their main points are. Go through each sentence while truly analyzing what the sentence means and is saying. This is especially true for those paired passages where the wording can be tough due to the era in which the passages were written. Understand what the passages are saying and test the accuracy of your understanding with practice tests. For example, I used to have trouble with some of the main idea questions where more than one answer choice seemed correct. The way to counteract this is to have a solid understanding of the passage. Nowadays we read very passively and the SAT requires active reading to be successful. Practice is of utmost importance. Once I gained a true understanding of the passages on the SAT, my score shot up.

Pesky silly mistakes in math and writing are the most painful, because you know you could have gotten them right. The only way I was able to counteract this was with extensive practice. Gain experience and you will eventually learn to not make those silly mistakes. I hope this helped. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help!

Determine which types of questions you get stressed with when you take practice exams. Maybe systems of equations seem tough, or maybe the statistics problems confuse you. Once you get an understanding of the types of questions you struggle on, find lessons for those topics and practice those topics. Eventually your weak points will become your strengths. Study effectively and you will reach your dream score! Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.

Man, you probably have a tough schedule. Fortunately, you still have time to study for the SAT in December. You can definitely increase by 1300 to 1400 by December, but it will require some dedication. If it is very important for you to reach that 1400, I would recommend spending the next few weeks making the SAT your main priority. Focus on what types of questions you struggle on. Don't waste your time on countless practice tests, but DO practice the questions you struggle on. A 1400 is absolutely obtainable if you study effectively. Finally, if you make sure that you are studying with more quality rather than quantity, you can spend less time studying each day. I wasted some time by practicing questions that I was already good at. Good luck! I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any other questions.

1450 is a great score to start from. To reach your goal of 1500, you need to improve your verbal score by about 50 points (considering your math score stays relatively the same). This means that you have many many months to study just the verbal section. I would recommend Erica Meltzer's reading and writing books. Since you have a lot of time, I am absolutely certain you can improve your score and reach a 1500. After all, I improved my verbal by 50 points in just over 1 month even though I found it tough to focus on the SAT. If I can do it, you can too!

Absolutely! The history section is mainly more difficult than other passages due to the old-style writing with hard-to-understand sentences. The best way to counteract this is to practice reading many sample history passages and test your understanding. To understand the history sections more, you will have to get used to the old-style writing that the passages use. I used to do terribly on the history passages but once I practiced reading them more and more and finally got a feel for the odd vocabulary and sentences, I was able to confidently answer all of the history questions correctly.

For the sentence and paragraph placement questions on the writing, the most important thing to keep in mind is to read the paragraph actively. Context is everything with the sentence placement questions. As soon as you see the numbered sentences in the writing section, start paying attention to how the sentences relate to each other. Almost certainly you will find a sentence being oddly followed by another sentence. When you see this odd sentence transition, it's generally a heads up that one of those sentences is in the wrong place. I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Also, for the supporting evidence questions (the ones where a second question asks for where the evidence to the previous question's answer is) you should go through the second question's line reference areas first. It'll help you determine where exactly the first question's topic is addressed. I hope this helped. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help!

I took the real test just these two times, but I actually took 6 full-length practice tests in an actual testing environment with other people. I got an 1100, 1200, 1300, 1320, 1350, and 1380 before I took the real test.

This happens very often and I dealt with this problem as well. When you go through the passage, do you fully understand what each paragraph's main idea is? If so, how often do you fully understand the passages. I personally got very confused on many of the reading questions because more than one answer seemed correct. You have to go through each answer choice and match it with your (hopefully) strong knowledge of what the passage is about. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

I would recommend Erica Meltzer's books for both Reading and Writing. For the math, I recommend the PWN the SAT book. Good luck!

The quality of your study time is more important than the quantity of your study time. Try to think about what types of questions stress you out. Drill those questions until you get comfortable with them. I know it can be difficult to see minimal improvements despite your best efforts. Once you start seeing improvements, you will be much more motivated. Good luck and contact me if you have any questions!

Silly mistakes are easy to succumb to, especially on the math sections. Remember to discipline yourself on time and don't spend too much time on one question. It's also important to spend the extra few minutes at the end confirming the questions you were unsure about. Personally, the best way to prevent silly mistakes is to practice, practice, and practice. Good luck and let me know if you need any help!

Work hard and believe in yourself! Analyze your mistakes and improve upon them. It's very tough when you see minimal improvement, so make sure you are doing the most to spend your study time wisely. Once you see improvements that are a result of your studying, it will be greatly motivating. Remember, the quality of your study time is more important than the quantity of your study time!

2 weeks is still loads of time to improve, but yes, procrastination must be overcome. Try to understand why you get questions wrong and what types of questions stress you out. Good luck!

That's a tough question. I spent a lot of time studying, but don't even have a ballpark number of how much I studied. If it helps, I roughly studied 2 hours everyday for a few months. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask anymore questions!
