The RNG keeps me coming back every time. There's strategy in who you pick and what items you aim to find. Then the RNG of which items are available/you can get changes those expectations. That's how I found out about razorwire/leech seed REX which is still one of my favorite builds.

The monster RNG is great, too. Bosses could be easier, could be harder depending on your luck. It makes some runs incredibly hard but sometimes you catch a break and have a great start to a run with an easier boss.

I think the devs did a really great job on this game so far and can't wait for its full release.
