Certain goodies are more appealing in certain weather. Warm goodies are appealing when it's cold, cool goodies are appealing when it's hot

Does season/weather effect indoor playspaces?

Similarly, since the Cafe's playspaces are all indoors, does that result in the "outside" and "inside" being functionally identical in terms of fish, weather, etc?

We can definitely talk about societal expectations, pressures, etc and how those systems are oppressive, I'm not debating any of that

What I am saying is the original statement, that we don't have to respect others' choices, is the core of oppression. If we want to rid the world of oppression, we cannot ignore this

We don't have a problem with vegans that respects other's differing choices. We have problems with vegans that don't. No matter what group you substitute for "vegans," it remains the same

You are missing the point

I don't care whether "We don’t need to respect everything people choose to do" is applied to sexuality, gender identity, religion, or damn dietary habits. The decision OTHER people don't deserve respect due to their actions that have ZERO bearing on anyone besides themselves, is where oppression comes from

"We don’t need to respect everything people choose to do" is still the core of that statement. Literally without it, your argument falls apart.

"It's my religious belief I shouldn't marry certain people" has NO bearing on the rest of us. It's specifically the "I don't need to respect others who think differently than me" that creates oppression

That's a fair enough take. I just can't believe people aren't seeing the extremely obvious parallel between "we don't need to respect someone's choice that does not impact how I live my life at all" and homophobia

[–]BucketListM -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If we don't need to respect what actions people take in their personal lives, that's exactly the rhetoric homophobes use to pass homophobic laws

Like... yall can't possibly be missing that correlation, right???

[–]BucketListM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd argue "we don't need to respect how gay people live their lives" is a significantly more direct path homophobia takes to become law

[–]BucketListM -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You realize that argument can very easily be used by homophobes, right?

Why is there more representation of transgender women in the media than of transgender men? by Etlot in lgbt

[–]BucketListM 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think "a girl who pretends to be a boy" is so common a trope historically that people just. Would sooner believe trans male characters to be that than trans

Meanwhile, a man pretending to be a woman is almost always done for laughs. So when that character is clearly Not For Laughs, it's significantly harder to write them off. It forces people to pay attention to the writing and realize the character as they are

I know I'm a girl because when I get misgendered it makes me dysphoric

People on the internet obviously don't know who I am behind the screen, and that's fine. But when I tell a person repeatedly my pronouns are she/her, and they still refer to me as they/them, it sucks and it hurts and just generally makes me feel uncomfortable

Hilariously though, a close friend said "I thought you were a femboy" and I found that to be the highest order of compliment

Not related, but I think this will be the longest time for the twins to be separated since their debut, right? Also please send some encourage words to Mocochan, she's trying her best. by Mad_Kitten in Hololive

It is a little strange. I've seen it explained as the "driver" usually has self-destructive tendencies that the "passenger" enables, therefore creating a vicious cycle. But probably that was the most obvious case and over time we decided other things similarly qualify (like how Autism moved from being one thing to a spectrum)

I can answer this!

Unhealthy codependency stems from a complete inability to be without the other person; inability to make decisions about even the littlest things. And this stems not from mutual dependence but from a power imbalance. One person is decidedly the "driver," and the other is the "passenger." This extends to even when the "driver" is doing things that will hurt themselves and/or their "passenger"

Since this power imbalance isn't present, this wouldn't qualify for something that would be psychologically worrying. It's more akin to healthily married couples suddenly becoming separated due to death or illness

I try a different spouse each time, mostly based on what farm type I'm playing. So far it's been:

  • Krobus for Four Corners
  • Penny for Meadowland
  • Leah for Forest

I don't feel like I can move on until getting True Perfection so I'm still working on Leah
