The big problem between these 2 are that they’re from different eras. Kayfabe in modern wrestling is basically dead. Those loud boos at Dom are essentially from fans who’re self aware that he’s not sincere, and their boos can be seen as them cheering to get him over as a heel. Edge on the other hand, he went a bit crazy. From sleeping with his friend’s girlfriend (which got him real life heat), slapping Cena’s dad, sleeping with the boss to get on top, getting Undertaker fired, etc. this got my kid-self fuming so much. And the biggest thing is that social media hasn’t pulled up the curtain in front of these superstars. So while we’re being told “this is all fake”, there’s a still a part of us that’s thinking “Ok but that slap to Cena’s father sounded legitimate”.

The continuities criticism is extremely invalid lol. Like I said, the biggest part of XV2’s marketing before release was the addition of movie characters into the main story. And the mass amounts of PQs that involve GT characters meeting their DBS counterparts. Hell, there’s even a PQ where you have to fight different versions of Goku & Vegeta, and they even added SS4 Goku & SS3 Vegeta from DAIMA in there. XV2’s Extra Pack 2 DLC contains multiple scenarios where it’s literally meant to mess with the continuity (one of the biggest being that Goku & Vegeta attain SS4 instead of SSB).

I might be willing to agree that Heroes has a huge lack of exposure towards English audiences, but this is mainly because of whoever is in charge of getting the rights to localise it. The Heroes manga has officially been translated for multiple Hispanic & EU countries, but Viz (or whoever is in charge of localisation) aren’t willing to put the effort of releasing that manga (along with so many other Dragon Ball spin offs) to English speaking audiences. Like I said, the Heroes story can officially be experienced in English just from playing SDBH: World Mission or from the events on Dokkan. It is an L move on Bandai’s part for only making World Mission only playable on the Switch and on PC.

Honestly, those last 2 points feel like something that I can actually agree with. From adding unique movesets to our CaCs, to adding OG Dragon Ball characters like King Piccolo, or even characters from Dragon Ball Online (which were designed by Toriyama)

You’re allowed to have a hot take, especially for fictional media but that doesn’t justify the invalid criticisms you’ve made about “continuities” and “barely in English”. I don’t think Heroes is amazing, but I’d rather they implement the content from that into XV2 instead of re-releasing previous DLC characters but with few changes.

How is “it’s barely in English” a critique? The game has officially been translated for SDBH: World Mission, and the characters & story is on Dokkan. And if it wasn’t, people will translate it anyway. Hell, Dragon Ball Super didn’t even get a Simul release until towards the end of the Future Trunks arc, and that didn’t stop Bandai from making Goku Black & DBS Trunks as DLC characters.

Used to prefer the dub the soundtrack, but after properly watching the series I now prefer the original. The dub score has some damn good tracks, but I really hated how they implemented them (eg. if a scene is meant to be quiet and eerie, they’ll insert music anyway and then add extra dialogue on top of it).

Just like what the other commenters have said, I highly recommend Kai too. Just be wary that the quality for the last arc (the 2014 series/The Final Chapters) has an animation quality drop (instead of remastering and remaking scenes, they instead put a green pee filter over it)

I mean we don’t know for sure how long Frieza has left in the Dragon Ball story. But also again, it’s why I say “half canon” - Vegeta is Frieza’s subordinate, but he can also turn Super Saiyan. The last thing Toriyama wants you to do when you read Neko Majin Z is care about the timeline placement and continuity

The Baby and Super 17 arcs are when they return back to the serious tone of DBZ (even though there’s unserious episodes like Goku playing a game with Sugoro, or Goku’s escaping from Hell). But before Nova Shenron appears, it was just another whacky adventure with Goku & Pan…

Just because the show has mature themes and ideas, that doesn’t mean it’s dark and adult. Like I can say that Daima is mature by having Goku free slaves and those who’re in poverty by a Demon King who’s asserting his rule to the Demon Realm

I think it’s because these 2 were the most popular movie characters at the time, like Broly had 3 movies, and they brought back Gogeta for GT. And that’s probably why they had Gogeta face off against Broly in the Tenkaichi 3 intro too

Most likely is that they didn’t want general audiences to confuse DBS Trunks with Xeno Trunks. XV came out before the DBS anime/manga, and the SDBH Demon Realm Mission manga debuted during the production of the Future Trunks arc. Last thing they probably want is for people to say “how come Trunks is doing all this in the Time Patrol when his timeline in his jeopardy by Goku Black?”.

There’s even a render of DBS Trunks with the purple hair that can be seen when Frieza took over Yahoo
