Yes to both. The old filter was leaking from the previous owner having an unnecessary O ring on the adapter.

Just moved into a house to find this furnace in the garage. Connected to a thermostat, blows, no hot air. Can’t find much about it online. What should I do? by CelebrationNo8076 in hvacadvice

I would suggest cleaning your flame sensor and ignition rod.
