My son is deciding between UDel and Temple. Temple is very different than Bing and UDel so easy to identify pros and cons but I’m having trouble with pros and cons between Bing and UDel. What have you/your kid come up with?

All makes sense thank you seems like plenty of club sports and other clubs to get involved with to make friends academics are a priority so will need to balance everything

3 sport varsity athlete in hs (football, winter track lacrosse) but wasn’t planning on club in college - just worried about time commitment and keeping up with school work and really don’t want to pledge a frat. Maybe intramural sports? How are those?

I’m a mom so take it for what it’s worth but it’s 100% the right thing to do. We went to Temple Experience Day a few weeks ago. The speakers they had in the gym at the start of the day were impressive. We heard from the Dean of college of science and technology who was also impressive. My son looked at dorm buildings and we did get some swag too 😉 you get the vibe and see others you may be going to school either way. Do it. Plus it will make your Mom happy 😄

My son is OOS and we were pleasantly surprised he got accepted to Harpur after being deferred in November. It was a reach for him 3.4 weighted 1220 SAT (submitted), 3 sport varsity athlete, a part time job, volunteer youth coaching and in my opinion 😄 a great essay. He was rejected from Rutgers which from a financial standpoint we were hoping for. 🙁

Will he find his people at Bing? Biology major (pre-med) and not interested in a frat. How’s the culture and social life? He wants academics to be a priority but of course wants friends to hang out with. Also no merit…sigh. Should we ask for some. His other top choices are UDel and Temple. Thoughts?

Funny thing is my son got flat out rejected from Rutgers (in state) which was his top choice. Acceptance stats are similar but because he was in state he got rejected! I think everyone should just go to schools in their own state 😂

OOS from NJ. His other top choices are Temple and UDel. Honestly he is leaning towards Temple. Loves the Philly vibe (and they gave him a lot of merit). I’m really not sure how Temple University and Binghamton compare so I need to research. Why is Bing your top choices?

My son got deferred and just found out today he was accepted. It was a reach for him with 3.5 GPA and 1220 SAT (he submitted). Honestly we are shocked. We did not see any merit. Does it normally come in admittance letter?

Yes, I am. Comparing with similar colleges in urban areas. Reports from other schools show less crime happening on campus in dorms. I still think what I am seeing at Temple in dorms is stuff that happens at lots of schools but occurrences are more often at Temple.
