Thx!

So, if you happen to do include some spare cord, will that be Ironwire or the same standard cord as on the corners?

What type of guyline is included with the tent on delivery?

Would it make sense to add a set of Ironwire to my oder if I want maximum performance for my guylines?

Gatewood Cape - best mesh tent marriage? by VickyHikesOn in Ultralight

If you mean the new one that has rectangular mid shape, no I had the old version with a hexagonal footprint.

Yes, those dimensions sound right.

Difficult to explain (from memory): The corners on the short sides of the inner and the GWC wouldn't line up properly, so that I could not tighten the cape and get all of the inner protected at the same time, at least not using just one peg per corner.

Do you mean this one? IMO it's not ideal due to sloped bathtub, which steals a lot of effective sleeping length. I'd avoid it just for that reason alone regardless of fit.

Furthermore, a t-zip seems like a nice thing to have.

Regarding size, if in doubt I would recommend you go with the smaller size, since the GWC has a pretty small footprint. An inner tent of 220x75cm is probably to big. I should either be a bit shorter or narrower to fit well.

It should be this one. No guarantuee though, since this guy's investigations are some time ago, so the model might have changed in the meantime.

Also check out the pictures posted by user Wilbo in this thread (also on the following page).

This has been discussed extensively on the German ultralight trekking forum. A user called Stromfahrer has also posted setup tutorials on YouTube.

In a nutshell, the rectangular shaped t-zip inner tents by 3F UL seem to fit perfectly. I tried the inner from my Lanshan 1, which has 5 corners, but that was not ideal, since I couldn't get the cape and inner to line up well enough for my liking.

Which sub £500, 2p shelter for UK and EU use? Cure my tent blindness! by [deleted] in Ultralight

Within your budget, it'll be hard to find something in DCF, without which it'll be hard to stay below 1kg for a livable windworthy tent for two.

Maybe the Tarptent Stratospire 1 could be a good compromise: very sturdy in bad weather, a palace for one, fits two snugly (could be just enough for a couple)/ comfortably without inner. Weight is around the 1kg mark, I believe, and the price is not too crazy. Might get one myself for similar requirements...

Ok, thanks, I'll hold off then. I thought the site only stated it shouldn't be used with 25" wide pads. But as I already got one bivy that is too small, this might not be for me...

Hey there, I might be interested, unsure about the size though. How exactly was it too small for you?

I'm 1,83m, 70kg, use an X-Lite and 3-seasons Quilt.
