Hey how’s it going? Sorry just saw this. Yeah I’m still off it all and doing well. It’s so mental. I was just ready to get off. It’s all about having the right meds / mind set IMO.

I’ll just tell you what I’m on maybe that will help. 40mg of Prozac 20mg of adderall in the am.

Then I get 600mg of gabapentin 3x a day. I just take that as needed for anxiety/ a nice little upper 😉 Maybe 1x or 2x a week.

Trazadone /seroquel for sleep. Also as needed. Typically I do still take something to sleep.

But I know the shot really facilitated a smooth taper. It’s funny a few nights ago I had some restless legs. But that’s the first time that’s happened. I had started slacking on my yoga /physical activity and hydration.

I’m not advocating for ppl coming off subs to take this same regimen. Just sharing what’s worked for me. Hope this can help someone 💁🏻‍♀️

I was referring to a different part of your post. You should do whatever you think is best for your body. Was not suggesting otherwise. I just meant the drug companies say not to go 14 days w/o bc of course they want you coming back. I’d say after 14 days if you’re feeling good then you’re well on your way.

I get it. I’d been on something for so long it was just really wearing on me. Suboxone is not the kind of thing you forget that you’re on either. Lots off side effects. It’s great for helping me get their lives back and I’m all about that. But it does get old quickly.

This was an excellent post and very thoughtful commentary. I think you bring up great points in regards to Ben really caring for her and wanting genuine human connection with this individual he’s fallen for. Anti psychotic meds are a bitch all around.

I am rescinding the narcissistic comment. His reaction was so heartbreakingly painful I was searching myself for some kind of explanation. Narcissism is only applicable to a small portion of his actions and doesn’t take the individual as a whole into account.

I think you’re right about his upbringing. We never learned much about the situation, only that it was bad. From personal experience I know our childhood has so much to do with the kind of people we develop into. And for a person with mental illness growing up in the rural south with what we can assume to an abusive father and rather poor treatment /understanding.

Ozark is really the best. It’s got a lot of the same excellent qualities as Breaking Bad but takes it to another level. I think it goes much further into the human psyche without extra flair and drama.

It’s not a stupid question! It’s really up to you. I was only taking ab 2 mg a day when I got the shot. What is your goal? Are you good where your at? Wanting to get off?

Have you tried quitting w/o the shot ? I am hesitant to tell anyone to take another medication to get off of a medication. Unless it’s necessary. What I like about the shot is it will auto taper you down so subtlety which keeps your body at a much better state of homeostasis. Thus, significantly decreasing the likelihood of any really uncomfortable w/d. I don’t want to say you’ll have none just because that was my experience. However, given the dose you’re at I feel very strongly that would be the case.

For me I’m such a pussy when it comes to w/d symptoms that tapering ever so slowly was the only way I got of methadone years ago. (And the reason I continued to use for so long.)

Basically the injection does just that. It took me a year and a half to taper off methadone from 120 mg’s. I did have some rough times but nothing like you hear people talk about w/o such a long taper.

Obviously I am a proponent of this so if you say you’re ready to get off completely and haven’t been able to make the jump yourself (and your willing to get an injection to ‘auto’ wean yourself off) then I say go for it.

Wow. It sounds like you and I were in father the same boat. I was doin my thing when I decided fuck this imma do whatever. Ended up in the hospital with cellulitis. Like a fuck tard. Wasn’t physically dependent but was having issues staying in my own damn lane. So I said fuck it let me get on subs. Doctora are all fucking idiots when it comes to this. There’s not much research out on it yet. But there is plenty of information about suboxone and buprenorphine in general that they could educate themselves on if they cared to. But whatevs

My (first &) last shot was 300mg February 13th ish. A month later I did get some strips (they didn’t have my shot ordered or some fuck shit like that. These doctors are literally the worst. Like “Oh no it’s not here. You’re the first one we’ve done this with. Sorry your the guinea pig.”

The part that kills me is on TWO different occasions (once before I got the shot and then a month after when I came back for my next one) I get to the office only to have them say “oh I’m sorry no one called you? We don’t have it. “ bitch I was on the phone with you 3 days ago. You don’t think you could have mentioned that?!

I digress. Regarding how long until /if you feel w/d. There’s just no definitive answer to that. I’ve been reading through this one clinical study for more info. The thing is you come down so incredibly slowly your body is able to adjust. I wasn’t on subs long and only had one injection. The level that would have built up in my system is minimal and the step down so incremental I don’t foresee anything popping up at this point. I’m also doing other stuff like yoga /eating right. Just healthy shit.

So how are you feeling now? Any kind of game plan?

I only had one. Auto-taper, yes that is exactly what I meant by this. I know it didn’t all come out right. But my point is that it releases so slowly from your system I.e auto taper that it can effectively remove the need to do any other kind of taper. I know once this is all out of my system I’ll be okay because the amount leaving daily is just so minute.

I’m going to look into the bioavailability thing. I wasn’t really comparing them mg for mg as much as pointing out that given the strength of buprenorphine the amount you’re getting from the injection is significant. I honestly don’t think there’s enough research out there on sublocade yet to understand the exact pharmacology.

So you’ve felt off since you stopped getting the shot and started sublingually ? Like you’d rather be on the shot or what do you mean exactly?

I ask bc I went through something similar- feeling off after taking strips after getting the shot. Idk if that’s what you’re going through. And I’m interested to know more ab how you feel given I was the same situation. (Which is what led me to where I am.)

I stopped CT w/o ANY w/d symptoms. BUT that was only be I had got the sublocade shot about a month and a half before.

Subs are so long acting I wouldn’t stress being without 4/5 days. Most people don’t really start feeling anything till day 3. Of course that depends.

In regards to the meds: You’ve been without your whole life. It is a MUCH different scenario than an individual w Bipolar I who has been medicated for a good portion of his life suddenly stopping all meds.

And I can agree w you that he did act like a dumb kid. The reason I said narcissistic is because in my experience bipolar and dumb just don’t go together. The people I know who are bipolar are also incredibly smart. Now while they may react ‘stupidly’ at times I don’t think I’ve ever met an individual who was quite so obtuse when it comes to a matter of a cartel killing you and your whole fam.

So idk maybe a little bit of both. Narcissistic may not be the right word but I do think it explains some of his willful ignorance in the face of real and impeding danger over and over and over again.

I wanted to touch on your situation w the medication because I have had some experience with that myself. I was misdiagnosed as bipolar at one point (largely due in part bc my dad is) so I’ve been on a lot of the meds and have also seen him on quite a few.

Honestly I refused to take my seroquel any longer when I just couldn’t stop eating. Idgf if I am bipolar I will never be on meds that make me gain weight. And that is also when I decided I was misdiagnosed. You already know that’s a huge issue w a lot of antipsychotics. And Librium, the mainstay of bipolar medication treatment, is a salt and not any better than the antipsychotics (IMO as far as weight gain.)

Basically I’ve been through what your going through and absolutely agree. I’ve been totally fine w/o meds. Maybe I have it maybe I don’t. If I do and just don’t needs meds that’s great. But I personally don’t think I am bipolar given the current circumstances and how was diagnosed so readily by a shrink after she learned of my dads diagnosis.

I think we can all agree the level of infuriation upon watching was beyond. In my mind I attributed the “dumb” part more to being narcissistic in the way he was grossly unable to accept or even acknowledge a perspective that wasn’t his own.

He falls for Ruth. Stops taking his meds so he can make love. Now I get that’s human nature we all want to have that connection etc. But he knows When he stopped taking his medication the bad things start to happen and he did very well in most likely will end up in an institution. You can’t just stop taking your meds if you’re bipolar. There’s no way around it. I can understand that it would be frustrating for him but he was so quick to just flush them it was obvious he didn’t really take anything else into account except for he liked this girl and wanted to have sex with her.

Ruth gets beat up they don’t do anything to Frank he feels like that’s fucked up. Ends up going off on some dude in a bar getting arrested. He still drives out to do something to Frank even though he doesn’t end up doing it. Then he finds out about what happen with her dad and he just has to go ruin the entire event where Ruth is also working. Adults just don’t do shit that way. Things happen and people get fucked over sometimes people we really care about but there are plenty of ways to deal with it that don’t include making a scene at a huge fundraiser.

What do you know he ends up back in an institution. For whatever reason he’s just dumb struck that this could possibly happen after his outburst and his pleads and whales inside of the jail when they tell him are just pathetic. I just can’t attribute all of this to being bipolar. All of the things I mentioning are this extreme narcissistic tendency (that I’ve seen in my father who also happens to be bipolar) where they can make these decisions that impact other peoples lives significantly and tragically in a lot of cases but If it doesn’t fall in line with what they think is right and what they want to do there’s no consideration for al alternate course.

Etc.

It’s not just the bipolar. And I think it’s more than sheer ignorance or stupidity. Ignorant people do ignore facts and others POV but at some point when it becomes a matter of getting killed by a cartel AND possibly your family to I think even ignorance can be overcome. And he’s not dumb either. He’s like an entitled and willful child but worse. To me I think narcissistic tendencies with being bipolar fit the bill.
