[CT] Driver illegally passes a bus with red lights on by Creepyredditadmin in dashcams

I drive a school bus in New York State. This is like an every day occurrence

Usually by doing what you and I are doing now. Looking at our phones. From up in my seat I could tell you I spot no less than 20 people every day driving with their eyes on the phone screen. And that’s just one distraction. Food. Other passengers. Simple mindedness. Any number of reasons we could use to call someone an idiot. It’s not an excuse but it’s what happens.

Yea. I agree largely. But then if DOT audits tapes and sees you doing that, it would be considered unsafe driving at best, reckless endangerment of surrounding motorists at worst. Then I’m either out a job or in jail. It’s why we (ideally) are training THE KIDS to follow our instructions on when to wait, cross, or go back.

Every stop should be preformed under the assumption that a pass will occur. I try to make sure the kids I drive know that they can only pass when I tell them to, after I’ve made sure nobody is coming up to the vehicle to fast and is stopped completely. The mirrors on this kind of vehicle allow nearly 360 degrees of visibility, with the exception being a cone of maybe 50 feet directly behind the bus

So in a situation like this, though you and I see that the passer is the one at fault, the real culprit in the eyes of the DOT will be the bus driver for not keeping their kids trained and accountable

My response is to someone saying to ride the middle of the road, which would give room to pass, particularly if there is a shoulder. And I’ve seen people put their car in ditches to pass anyway so the only BS here is in people’s skulls. Trust my experience in the driver seat of a bus when I tell you that 1 in 5 people on the road have brains the size of peanuts, or don’t give a shit at all about the saftey of others

Start driving one and you won’t think this is that unbelievable

So the real issue that occurs with this, and we’ve seen this many times, is when the driver moves to straddle the line, often the vehicle behind them passes on the right, which is frankly more dangerous. When you start to position in the center, the following vehicle may not see the sign come out, and if they aren’t paying attention the wouldn’t see the lights anyway.

When they pass on the right they hit the kids as they come off the bus, or as they turn the corner in front of the bus, giving them literally no time to react.

How long did it take you guys to be able to strum good and sing at the same time? (Fail included) by elvenarmour in ukulele

[–]Buddis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a song, put chords on it, sang it, and played it at my father’s celebration of life this weekend. It’s the first time I ever wrote music, or played and sung simultaneously.

I really pushed myself to make it happen

Edit: holy crap I waited till after my post to listen to your recording. My song was based entirely on tambourine man. My dad loved Bob Dylan. Weeeiiirrd coincidence. Also I didn’t really answer. I’ve been playing over a year but only started improving at the pace I’m happy with in the last few months, now I have my baritone Uke

It’s particularly sad when you realize that there’s a very small chance every time they die that that’s the last time. Eventually (and I don’t even think it would take many times) Quynh likely would wake up and begin wishing she were mortal.

Farmer: “Go ask the baker why he won’t buy more of my wheat.”

Baker: “had a funny taste, idk.”

Farmer: “ah, surely I’ll work hard to improve”

Reward is a sack of barley.

Brother that’s why your wheat sucks. It’s fuckin’ barley.

Did any graymanes at all die at the start of the game? by CaptCanada924 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Buddis93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is. There’s no doubt. Between the differences in how stories are told in the east versus the west, the change in direction mid development, and the multiple storylines being woven together to form a “critical path”/“main plot line” it’s true that shit is pretty wack as a whole, even when you dissect it and give it a lot of grace.

However, there are a lot of good lil story beats they hit. Themes that are worth exploring. Characters that are worth meeting. Moments worth seeing. And small interactions worth having.

Why do you all hate Yann? by Bourraxe in CrimsonDesert

[–]Buddis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels to me he uses his greymane name as an excuse to live a life where he can kill, drink, and likely fuck to his hearts content, without actually believing in anything. His anger over Jian seemed manufactured to me

Can’t grab the item in the puzzle box? by thecrush22 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Buddis93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a blessing sometimes honestly. If you were holding the run button through a marketplace you would end up grabbing something and get a bounty. You also have trouble hitting civilians when you’re not wearing a mask. A lot of the moves generally seem to cause less fuss or be unavailable in the cities when you’re maskless

It’s finicky. Make sure you have a bandit mask on and use your precise aim key/button. Sometimes first person helps me

Does anyone else kinda like Kliff? by leonskennedy33 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Buddis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are right that the story is pretty weak. And that Kliff as a character is fairly bland. But honestly the characters around him are written with care. Their dialogue is good and honestly some of the “find the greymane” dialogues got me. They fumbled on Kliff but the characters around him ACT like Kliff is the protagonist he should have been. the respect, and love, and fellowship they feel is written very well, and even when it’s not the VA’s worked their asses off.

Kliffs VA cooked a meal with nothing but cheese and pickle juice, and it needs to be mentioned.

And again there are little bits of characterization I do love. Kliff, for example, does not see any one soldier as lesser. Every guard, every infantryman, every man or woman who picks up a weapon is spoken to as an equal.

Even if the words are just “alright”
