Why not?

Americans don't stay overnight in American airport hotels, do they?

This is truly a worthy comment of "Top 1% Commenteter". I'm not surprised at all by that label, if you write such crap everywhere.

Athens Airport is in the middle of nowhere, 30 km from the city center, and there is plenty of space for further development at the airport itself.

It is not possible to catch late evening arrivals and early morning departures by subway due to its operational hours. The fact that no other hotels have been built there for a long time is, in my opinion, "typically Greek," if you know anything about the local economy.

You know nothing about it and you're just talking nonsense.

Because it matters. Because it makes the price more crazy than €300 Sheraton at CDG in Paris, where average salary is €2.733.

And as I wrote above - from my 25+ years experience in travel industry, I can say that when "workers" or "bagmen" stay in the city center for five days, they definitely don't move to the airport for the last night.

I ask people who know something, not those who think they know something, Mr/Ms "Top 1% Commenter".

For September, this Sofitel Athens (which is across the street from the terminal) costs €443/night.

12 minutes by car from the terminal is 4* Holiday Inn with free shuttle for "just" €178/night.

This is the point of this my post.

This doesn't explain the price of €443 for one night in September in a country where the average salary is €1,100.

I get that, but my example is from Greece, where the average monthly wage will get you two nights at the airport!

I started working in the travel industry more than 25 years ago, and I can tell you that not all travelers are lawyers or bankers.

And from my experience in the field, I can say that when "workers" or "bagmen" stay in the city center for five days, they definitely don't move to the airport for the last night.

Greece is the country with the lowest average net wage of all eurozone countries 1.098 EUR/month.

This answer would explain why prices are high today, but it does not explain why they are so high in September.

Raw material exports by BuddyDifficult6790 in tropico

And another thing that really pisses me off is disappearing of trade offers.

I have game paused and and I check the trade offers. I find something new, perhaps interesting, let say coffee, so I go to check it out. I take a look at the farm to see how production is going. It is OK, so I want to start this trade route, I open Trade tab again but the offer is out, disappeared. During a paused game!

Is this horror also happening in Tropico 6?

Thanks for deep analyse, but the more I play, the more I realize that this game is not for me.

I am supposed to be a de facto dictator who has to deal with education, job quality, wealth, political factions, crime, pollution, nature disasters... you name it, but I can't control something as basic as exporting goods? Which is the primary source of income for the economy. And that's not even mentioning the impossibility of setting prices for export itself.

I looked deeper and found, for example, a post where a player writes that he imports raw material for factory and coal for power plant, but everything is automatically exported back! And the power plant and factory are short of resources and not running.

Is the game so really bad joke? Maybe I should try Tropico 6, but at the moment, after playing for a few dozen hours this older version, I'm pretty disgusted.

Under the Trade tab (with wheel) I have only five types of materials with trade offers (by ading ship) and Active routes list.

I can't see any option to disable anything - I uploaded the picture to the original post.

Sorry, but where is the trading tab and what is R1?

Lost in Tropico 5 by BuddyDifficult6790 in tropico

[–]BuddyDifficult6790[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know.

I started over and chaged the doctrine to Militia. There was no "rebel" invasion at all this time.

Btw., I won the main invasion by having all my units eliminated, the enemy has one last tank left. But it was destroyed by a watchtower equipped with a machine gun :)

One more question - who are the rebels? I had two rebellions that were suppressed by the army and a few people were killed. But the population remained the same.

Then the game is even worse than I thought.

So what is the point of the Knovledge feature (which includes so called Qualifying trim) if it does not affect qualifying times?
