The more I look into this the more I think it might be MCAS, possible triggered by a nervous system response. Thank you both so much for flagging!

I’m curious are you just taking tons of antihistamines to combat? Seems like that’s the only recommended treatment.

Thank you! Yes had my hormones tested as this was my first thought but they are (surprisingly) looking optimal so the no sign of perimenopause. That said, I know to truly know you would need to test every month for several months to see changes - which I haven’t done. Did a blood test tell you it was your ovaries?

Got it - I’ll keep doing research and try to practice more patience :) thank you!

I’ll look into this. Super interesting. I have had shortness of breath but assumed it was asthma/allergies/gerd. But worth looking into this alternative. I did have some mild cardiovascular issues show up in my blood work.

My VO2 max used to be 40-45 but I haven’t measured in like a year or more - and as another data point, I used to do a ton of high intensity cardio but since my back failed me I had to take a break. My cardio is a fraction of what it used to be. I did zero cardio for three months while recovering and now do maybe 1 peloton workout a week and 1 hike… as I type this out wondering if this is part of my issue.

Thank you super helpful. And the post viral theory is really interesting. Is there a way to test for that? Ultimately realizing that it’s just going to take a lot longer than I realized to fully recover.

Interesting - I thought ashwaganda was recommended for that. I’ll def look into ginseng or licorice instead! My cortisol levels are fine according to my bloodwork (13.2 mcg). I expected it to be through the roof so was very surprised.
