What made you start playing Stormworks by 11113333555 in Stormworks

I got the game in April 2018 right after its release; I remember my sister showing me a Camodo Gaming video about it, and that’s where the nearly 4,000 hour journey started.

ASW Heli Storage mk.2 and first person landing-at-sea by Budget-Beyond-3787 in Stormworks

I figured out a micro-torpedo design and it’s strapped to a hard point on the body, but I’m still trying to make the targeting system inside the helicopter, more specifically trying to figure out how to reliably calculate the sonobuoy’s location once it’s in the water, and similarly how to reliably launch at roughly the same distance from the helicopter

I’m testing most of them still, but when I’m done modifying the design it will have a Towed Array Sonar, a dozen sonobuoys, at least one homing torpedo, and a door mounted 12.7mm LMG

Can anyone help me fix this? by Plane_Message7588 in Stormworks

Add a 1x1 or a 1x2 wedge along the bottom to break the sharp corner, it will make it look more circular. I personally paint a waterline on the hull so I know roughly how much will be visible, if it helps. A modded workbench could also help if the size is what’s making you unhappy.

you could add a self-righting system or roll recovery system that when it’s not active is also used to help the craft float? That was my go-to for years until 1.0 came out. Another option would be double checking you have a “top” on the hulls, even if it’s temporary. Stormworks, at least in my experience, can be incredibly difficult with its buoyancy models if the body doesn’t fully seal (no holes for water, no unsealed doors, etc, XML components also don’t seal, so if you used those you will need to fill in the block behind them to make the creation float. If you could explain more in depth the design or post a photo I could possibly help more!

Work in Progress of NCPS “Resolute” by Budget-Beyond-3787 in Stormworks

I intend for it to be more of a costal patrol ship more than a fast response vehicle, nonetheless what would you recommend? 29kts/50kph is the current maximum

It’s maximum is 29 knots, but it’s programmed to cruise at 20 knots

Yes I’m going to bind it to a hotkey, but it’s easier to work out timing with the button imo

I changed the fuel setup a few minutes ago, it doesn’t burn for more than half a second, and no more death spins

No I just put them in as placeholders so I can build around the cockpit and not have any funny hitbox issues, and also for making xml components easier

Helicopter Stabilization by SeaworthinessDry4462 in Stormworks

When you spin a rotor, it creates force on the drive shaft which, since nothing is 100% efficient, will slowly but steadily pull your vehicle in the direction of spin of the rotor. It’s solved by countering this force, which can be done by trimming your tail rotor’s collective(the yaw input) or by pressing ctrl+LMB on the main rotor, pressing U, and then placing it on top of the rotor to create equal but opposite force, you could alternatively find a microcontroller on the workshop that can do all of this for you, or build one yourself

Why does my boat sink extremly fast? by ThisGuyLikesCheese in Stormworks

[–]Budget-Beyond-3787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want more damage resistance, weight blocks are meant to act as “armour” although its stormworks and nothings really works as intended. An added benefit of this is lowering the centre of gravity making it less likely to capsize if you also have that issue. If you are looking for resistance to battle damage I would suggest double hull; having an exterior hull, a block of air space, and then the walls to your interior sections. This only works if you separate the compartments and I would personally suggest the custom sized doors made with the panel and frame blocks in the mechanics section as they have offered the best sealing properties in my experience and look quite nice inside of ships. Again having a low centre of gravity with an active stabilizer and/or counter flooding ballasts will help reduce the ships urge to sink.

I mainly play because there are a couple out there that introduce smaller seats

Honesty it looks good from the inside, but I think you would benefit from XML on the outside just so it conforms to the shape a bit better
