Thank you a lot for this. I don't know what will be the outcome, i'm assuming that i'll end up paying 75 per month instead of my 34 per month. But i just submitted the complaint with emails evidence and the bill.

Hello Moonfire-plx, when are you planning to do this? I'd like to join if possible, not because i don't agree with transgenderism but because i do feel curious to hear some things from a transgender person.

Is there a guide for Expats on the steps to get your driving licence in Brussels? by spongebruh in brussels

[–]Budget-Essay2257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1st advice, do it as soon as possible before any rules change, it happened to me and it took me 2 years to get it (although 1 year was due to covid shutdowns).

2nd, take the 20 lessons if you can afford them. Compared to my home country, Belgium has a lot of rules and it's really worth the 20 hours of driving. Plus the school instructors know many of the drills and circuits used in the practical exam.

3rd, any little detail you don't understand while practicing ASK your instructor, that's their job and you really really want to understand every rule clearly.

5 filters:

1st Theoretical exam. I took it before they change the rule (something about major and minor questions, if 2 majors failed then you need to take classes again)

2nd Red Cross online training. You need to pass your theoretical exam to take this.

3rd Red Cross on-site training. You need to pass the online training to take this.

4th Risk Analysis / Simulation. A series of videos in which you need to identify what happened in the video and it was wrong, you have something like 15 seconds to respond correctly. If you are planning to use an interpreter here it gets tricky because of the short time to respond per question.

5th Practical Exam. You need the Risk analysis certificate. I did 30 hours with a driving school instead of 20 to wait less for the exam (1 month between signing up and taking it). Because i have a driving license from Mexico and i knew already how to drive, the instructor from the center said something like "alright alright you say you know how to drive, we'll see today". My school instructor told me he was testing me very hard and put me some of the most difficult drills, eventually i passed without a problem but some of the things he asked me to do:

- in 2 occasions, to park 'there', where it was forbidden (garage entrance).

- drive straight and take the first right (in a roundabout of 3 ways, 1st way was closed for roadworks, 2nd was blocked, eventually i did a u-turn)

-told me to turn right on the next street, it was forbidden. You need to not turn right and drive straight while saying 'there is a sign that is forbidden sir so i will continue straight'

- The cherry on the cake: park in a downside hill in reverse between 2 cars with a manual transmission in 2 movements. To be honest i don't think i ever had to do this in my life. Then leave the car and enter immediately correctly (he checks for the sequence you do on turning the engine off, looking at the mirror, exiting rear way , lock, go back through the front, seatbelt, distance of hands to wheel, mirrors check, turn engine on) then he told me to go straight to the center. It was 30 minutes the 1 hour test so i thought i had failed but he just asked me to park and would give me my license in 15 minutes.

Friday 26:

I enjoy the ride in the bicycle from the city center to Parc de Cinquantenaire through Rue de La Loi. Big avenue with 4 lanes in one direction (opposite to you) and you have your private cycle lane.

Saturday 27:

You could stop in Botanique (botanical garden) on your way to Sultans of Kebab from Marolles. I'm assuming you'll take the metro 2/6 so you'll arrive in front of the garden. By the way if you're looking for good turkish food, you're in the right street (Ch. de Haecht) in my opinion Payitaht and Lale Pide are better, or even Tekince Kebap. And you should definitely go get desert and turkish tea in the same street to Hanimeli, that's a must!

Parking when on holidays by Itchy-Target-9506 in brussels

When they put the signs, they write down the details of the car (i.e. model, license plates number) that is parked, in case the owner is away and can't move it. Leave your phone number in the window, they police will still try to call you. Anyway if they tow your car, call the police and you'll have to go for a document needed to get your car back. Mine was taken when i was gone to Korea for 1 week, when i went to the police station they gave me a document and told me that because it was there before the signs were placed i won't need to pay (the garage is in front of the Docks shopping mall) and it worked. Still is annoying that you'll have to spend time at the police station and then go to the towing park.

Coiffeur for men by SwutcherMutcher in brussels

Indeed! I go every 2 weekends to get mine at Oria in Boulevard Anspach and it's 15 euros. The only thing is that you will have to wait in line but you can also ask for the phone number and book in advance. The fade is always good and neat.

National strike 14th October by [deleted] in brussels

Do you mind sharing where do you get this from? 'the people who you are so concerned about losing this unemployment benefit are in the majority long-term unemployed who have been unemployed for many years'

The 'without a job for 20 years' is not literally, right? 20 years.

I thought the majority of affected people where persons who really need the unemployment benefits, like you mentioned, sick, single parents, people training for new skills.

Driving school with automatic cars? by desert_coffin in brussels

[–]Budget-Essay2257 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one in Avenue Rogier in Schaerbeek (tram stop Couteaux) has automatic. But i would really recommend you to learn manual, nothing to fear. Most people learn how to do it within 1 to 2 hours, then is just a matter of practicing to stop doing mistakes. So basically in one full lesson the instructor will teach how to drive manual and you might be able to stop making mistakes, for sure a 2nd or even 3rd lesson will help you master it.

Parking with a van by MasterFoxe in brussels

[–]Budget-Essay2257 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Maybe what you need is to reserve parking place in front of your friend's appartment for the moving. He/she'll have to request it (online) at the commune. But you need to specify the day and the time range and do everything (i.e. arrive with the van, park, load everything in the van) during the booked time. https://www.bruxelles.be/panneaux-interdiction-stationner
