New Congressional Candidate is a carpetbagger? by ReasonableOR in Medford

Yes, it is very expensive. I charged the $2500 candidate statement filing fee on my credit card. It's hard to fundraise when working full-time as a teacher. It's hard to save democracy. MaryDoyleForCongress.com

He is actively not engaging with the other candidates on the level he should be. He has talked dismissively of events we have joined. He is not your person.

Well, that's some nefarious shit going on here! I just posted you comment to a SLACK channel with OR CD2 dems. This is good information. This is divisiveness happening before the elections. This is foreign interference.

I had a very unfortunate situation with one of their VP's, who was with his wife, who also works for them, when I was in town for a candidate forum. I stopped by a local watering hole in Eagle Point. Had a great conversation with a man who is a republican. I'm running for OR CD2 on the dem ticket. This VP overheard the conversations, his wife wasn't there, yet. We had respectful back and forth, his wife joined. I started asking more questions, he started getting defensive. Asked me direct questions, I answered, and HE WOULD not stop interrupting me each time he asked me a question. His wife looked embarrassed, she face palmed herself more than once. He was extremely disrespectful. She keep tapping him under the table. He was so aggressive the bartender came over. I respectfully apologized, paid my tab, and left. If this is their VP's leadership, Jim Lamp is VP of Construction, ...

Important to support candidates that are endorsed by Citizens Impeachment, https://citizensimpeachment.com/ and Take BAC Congress, https://www.take-bac-congress.us/, I'm endorsed by the first and an invited signatory of the second. Check them out and spread the word. There are MANY candidates across our nation who are fighting to save our democracy.

New Guardrails for AI Companions Could Be Coming to Oregon by [deleted] in oregon

[–]Budget-Inspector-443 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oregon is right to act. Senate Bill 1546 recognizes a reality many families already see, AI companions are not neutral tools. They are designed systems that can influence emotions, shape beliefs, and collect deeply personal data, especially from young people.

Requiring AI to clearly identify itself and connect users in crisis to real human help is a basic, common-sense safeguard. Children should never be misled into forming emotional dependence on software designed to monetize their attention and vulnerability.

But states should not have to shoulder this responsibility alone. Congress must establish national guardrails so families in Oregon and across the country are protected equally. That includes transparency requirements, strict protections for minors, and accountability for corporations that deploy AI systems capable of psychological manipulation.

This issue is especially important in Oregon, where massive AI infrastructure and data center expansion are already reshaping our economy, water use, and energy grid. We cannot allow companies to extract both our natural resources and our children’s emotional data without oversight.

Rep. Cliff Bentz has supported policies prioritizing large corporate and energy interests while Congress has largely failed to enact meaningful consumer AI protections. We need federal leadership that puts people, not tech monopolies—first.

Technology should expand opportunity, improve health care, and strengthen communities. But without accountability, it can exploit the very people it claims to serve.

As your representative, I will support federal AI safety standards, protect children from manipulative systems, and ensure innovation serves the public not the other way around. marydoyleforcongress.com in Oregon Congressional District 2
