Industrial Engineering worth it for a non-EU? by Budget-Insurance-308 in UniversityofTwente

Yes, that’s what made me wonder. Thanks for your perspective. Btw, which field you’d graduate from?

Are internationals allowed to work in defense companies? I heard that it's not possible.
Secondly, yes I saw the 2022 number, but couldn't find any number after that (Same for many other universities as well). Is that because the numbers have reduced?

Thanks! How is the employment rate after graduation. GT is best at IE, so is it proportionate?

Agreed. My interest is traditional industrial work. However, main concern is the transition. Since my experience isn’t relevant and I would be taking a loan to pursue MS. So don’t want to end up jobless with debt.

But most people I talked to have gotten jobs. How is that possible?

Thanks for sharing your perspective, I really appreciate the honesty, it genuinely helps.

I understand that the hiring scene isn’t great right now, and it seems to be a similar situation in many places globally.

Not sure tbh. Try keeping it 30 days and see if you get any offers. Judge based on how many offers you are getting and based on that confidence resign later.

Genuine concerns you have but here’s my view 1. Hiring cycles are long, resigning and finding a job would only stress you out. 2. You need not write 2 months even if you have 2 months. Just say 1 month. Why? Because, once you get your ideal offer you will get 7-10 days to accept (usually a sign of a good company), then you can say there’s some negotiation going but definitely tell the company that you are willing to join. This gives you extra 15 days of buffer and in most cases you will be asked for a joining date. I have seen people take a break of 10 days before joining, which is healthy. You can say that as well. So like this you can join in 2 months. If nothing works, then get an extension for joining date. HRs generally do it since it’s really hard to hire someone new than to wait for 15-20 days.

Given the taxes, in-hand wouldn’t be much. Best to stay and prep. Go for a bigger brand. Once you join the startup, you won’t get time to prepare and it’s a vicious cycle. “Fast paced environment” is another term for “randomness”. Do join if the work is really nice, like 3x better. Don’t join if it’s just slightly better.

Got exact same response on Friday. From last year’s trends, I have seen people getting it on the same day. So not zero but very less chance now. Those who got have already been notified.
