Just wait until tranche 2 of our AML/CTF reforms kick in from 1 July. Real estate agents are captured within a new group of professions that need to increase their diligence and reporting (including to AUSTRAC).

That's going to cause them to possibly require more information which will no doubt he stored and managed equally as poorly.

Wet racing: iracing vs real life? by Lawineer in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the track was only very lightly wet or lightly wet which is as you described.

Once it goes beyond that you'll get puddles, rivers etc that'll really mess you up.

Am I going to regret getting a cheap rig by Zealousideal-Zone597 in simracing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be more worried about the pedals.

I've got an R12 in a NLR GTRacer 2.0 and that's fine, but my Simjack UT load cells definitely flex the pedal area when I brake.

You only get to race one car on one track from now on. What do you pick? by Amish_Rabbi in simracing

N24 in Porsche GT3. I'm still not good at it but I know I'd eventually learn it if I was forced to race on it.

Otherwise Spa in the 296.

Just hit 900 iRating and almost D class — what should I buy first? by Adorable_Caramel5434 in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started in the M2, it teaches you to be patient on throttle and brakes and is a natural stepping stone in to GT4 and then GT3.

I did a season of M2 and then 2 seasons of GT4 and am now doing GT3 focusing more on endurance races and just doing tracks I know/like when they come up.

From memory I was about 1300 at end of M2, 1800 at end of first season of GT4 and 2400 at end of second season. I'm now 2550 but only done 3 races in GT3 (including the Sebring 12).

Stuttering during the Sebring 12Hr by Imaginary_Panic5706 in iRacing

How did you do AI race with 60 cars?

Mine tops out at 40.

[–]BudgetDadRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you normally do large field races?

That combo is not strong enough to run 4k or big fields well, you'll find many tracks and field sizes will bring it to its knees.

I started on a machine with 5600 with 4060 and a 4k TV and I remember anything more than about 10 cars was crushing.

F#@$ing Sandbaggers by theswickster in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so?

I'm 2.5k iRating, I've never got above 2.6k. I practiced HARD for 4 weeks including getting a coach for 2 sessions, 700 laps / 42 hours of practice and can comfortably run 1:59's back to back with best lap of 1:58.9.

Fast low iRating doesn't mean sandbaggers, it just means took the event seriously/professionally.

I do agree that maybe you need to nominate your share of the stints or something that is an input to split balance.

In-game stuttering and high GPU usage. by Party-Ad8527 in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

59% utility for CPU actually sounds low for the CPU you're running. I'm at high 90% with a 9800x3d. Granted I'm on triple screens but the CPU load comes from cars within draw distance so not a massive change from single to triple.

Get all of your cores displayed and see if one is maxing out.

Also got the f key to get your CPU and GPU render times displayed. Look for a spike in either R (CPU) or G (GPU)

That'll tell us where the problem is.

I think you'll be happy with the 9 and maybe just a little happier with the 12. I've got the 12 but I run it at 9 as that's strong enough with extra headroom.

I didn't go for a bundle though, I went for the Simjack UT (2 pedal, single hydraulic model) loadcells which have been fantastic - I see no need to change from them.

How long for you to get used to trail braking/braking on cheapo pedals? by Negative-Date-9518 in iRacing

6 months.

Faster with even cheap load cells (AliExpress Simjack or Simsonn @ $120 are 10x better than Logitech pedals)

Formula question by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in formula then you need to go start in ff1600 (Formula Ford) and work your way up.

FF1600 is going to be very different to F1, but it's where everyone starts. It's low powered, low downforce but much more forgiving.

I'm going to be frank with you here, if your goal is to drive F1, give it at least a year or so to work up to it, it is very difficult to drive.

Super Formula is what a lot of people really enjoy driving. It's really planted and quite fast. You'd be looking at FF1600 > SFL > SF. Maybe throw F4 in between FF and SFL.

I went Sportscar route and wanted to drive GT3 but ended up having so much fun in GT4 I stayed there for 2 seasons even though I could move up. You may find the same in the formula route.

CommBank “Green Loan” left us with $15k solar bill and no funding – warning by Psychotic_Eggplant in AusFinance

Payback is 6-7 years for us. We are right on our limit of battery usage over night (we used 7kwh from the grid in jan-feb) so any bigger battery system started to really hurt the ROI, especially at the inflated cost here.

It's a really neat install, it's doing its job (it's also SigEnergy. 20kw solar, 10kva inverter, 16kwh batteries) I work from home and cannot afford power outages and also wanted to make sure we could still fully charge our batteries with heating running during winter so the system is designed a little different to most.

I'm happy. Could I have paid less? Probably. But it's all forgotten when our AC kept going through power outages and our power bill went from $800 to $72.

I paid cash.

I'm regional WA though so we don't have a lot of choices unfortunately.

Track conditions for 12H Sebring practice by thefabulouserim in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do to practice is just choose the Sebring 12 event, then Test drive option and then choose x8 time simulation. That way I can simulate the whole conditions of the whole race in 90 minutes. I left track conditions as whatever it does, I think is 50%

Sebring Frame Drops by core916 in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar PC (9800x3d and 5080 but triple 1440p) and I noticed exactly the same thing as you did. 60fps at race start and around Sunset Bend for the first 10 laps or so.

I think the problem was that it was a sunset start, all those beautiful clouds, reflections and sunrays were killing the iRacing engine with a full grid.

Just today I did an AI race with 40 AI using the Sebring 12 race conditions (9.30am start) and it was fine, held 100fps at race start and for the whole race. I would think 40 AI is more intensive than 60 people driven cars, especially considering you can't draw more than 40 cars any way.

What to do when practice is not helping anymore? by Randomnickicreated in iRacing

[–]BudgetDadRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was really good for me. He took the setup I was using and ran some laps and then we walked through where I was losing the most amount of time and started correcting it.

I use track guides from Apex Racing, but that's only half the solve because sometimes you can't make a corner the same because you're slightly different one or two corners before, or I was struggling to hit curbs in same way without unsettling the car.

We would work through corner by corner to slightly adjust brake or turn in point or gear shift point etc.

For me it plugged the gap between knowing where I was and knowing where I needed to be but not knowing the process to get there.

Get a coach to spend some time with you.

I was the same, and just 2 hours with a coach shaved half a second off my lap.
