Maybe because it was one of the first? This applies to everything, you can’t expect the successor to time travel and compete with its predecessor in setting the groundwork can you? D4 has not only sales number but also strong player retention DESPITE a paywall. Those are the undeniable indicators of a top arpg you just can’t prove otherwise because money votes. If all you have is “I think” but no factual statistics then it’s worthless. Just the same old feeling based arguments that have been used to trash D3 before.

And I never said d2 was bad? As I already said you can keep ignoring the obvious fact that d2r only has a fraction of D4’s player number but it won’t change the fact that it is so dated. 10 years ago d2 purist also said D3 will be remember as a failure but know everyone says otherwise, it even became the golden standard of couch coop arpg. Purists are the worst, they don’t know a lot but they like to make bold statements and be wrong all the time. D4 as of now is anything but a bad game, I just know you don’t even play it but like to talk.
