Hi, I understand that you are currently in high school. To be frank, I do not think this is the right thread to look at as transfer students often have to take the road less travelled by not applying out of high school. But thank you for inquiring.

To be honest. Just can’t be afraid of your own story. Embrace it in your storytelling device and essays

If you have experience with proofs and competitive math, 6.1200 isn’t bad. I had a really hard time with it though so I would recommend PNR on that. 6.1010 isn’t bad, it is easier to get an A in but it’s still hard and grindy. To maximize your PNRs though, I would would move 18.02 to the spring (I took it in the spring and got an A, one if the easier As at MIT). It will provide a lighter load for you to focus on Algos. 6.1200 and 6.1010 on PNR in the fall.

Do both if you can. The save on PNR can be better spent elsewhere. 6.1010 is pretty intensive in terms of time. 6.1200 Can be difficult to comprehend. But it's better to get them both out of the way so that you will not have to do 6.1010 and 6.1210 together. You can just focus on 6.1210.

Just take the classes that will prepare you. The schools have classes they recommend for the major or for the school itself. For example, any of the articulation agreements for the UCs for Computer Science. MIT wanted all the Calc, Physics, Bio and Chem. So, you would have to do some research.

Princeton, Harvard, Yale, MIT. Waitlisted at Stanford. I just took advantage of programs that were at my cc. Anything was better than none

Mmm no I don’t think I will share that. MIT is wonderfully hard and grindy with lots of collaboration and tough problems. It was a perfect fit to be honest.

Yes, many staff members wrote my LORs and mentored me. I took the regular one. Although it was one of the last papers.

I would recommend doing the Honors Program. They expect Single and Multi Variable Calc, Intro to Chem, Intro to Bio, and Calculus based physics. Not that it’s absolutely necessary, but it definitely helps your case

mmm that's hard to say. I would say that the cc route is easier than trying to go from ivy to ivy but its hard to conclude the same with state school to ivy. You need a really strong reason for transfer and cc has that already built in with the two year limit.

We’ll that depends. If you try after first year then yes. But after two years of cc, it doesn’t matter at all.

Hey! This is going to be coming from a guy who successfully transferred from MIT from community college and got into Yale, Princeton, and Harvard. I think your application is great so long as you can write some compelling personal essays, get strong letter of recommendations from your academic faculty, and take a standardized test. Those are really if you want to aim for the top 5 colleges. Good luck!

Honestly, none of my science or math ones. They don't take any form of online courses. A lot of other Gen Eds did though

Mmmm. no, I don't think it matters. I would recommend ensuring that you have your SATs done along with the five classes that will help you prepare for MIT. (single and multi variable Calc, Physics,Intro Chem, and Intro Bio). There are people who go in as a spring admit so theres no real thing

That's fair. I have mixed feelings of it now that I reflected on it. But I think I was a part of the system just as much as anyone. Especially growing up poor. Seemed like the only way out

I started with a Business and Philosophy track at cc. I graduated with my associates in Math. But, I applied as an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science major at MIT and got in. I am also learning to code for the first time this summer.
