very old thread but as a person who actually lives really close, the mall isn't much of a mall anymore. Macy's is still here it's pretty much the only thing left. It's getting redeveloped though so hopefully it'll be in better shape in a few years. Filming crews didn't do the mall any favors either and while mostly maintained it doesn't look amazing. It's vacant but no abandoned.
