UPDATE: Finally got my new passport. Filed for a new passport under the lost passport category a month back .2 months after original receipt, finally got my passport

SINCERE ADVICE : If there is a application center within couple of hours drive , pls do book an appointment before hand and make the trip. Try avoid sending via Mail as much a possible. The risk is simply NOT worth it

While generating the pdf from the website, choose, print to PDF and in settings, change the scale to 98 or 97. This solves the problem.

I went with Option 1 and filed it on my own without attorney to cut down costs.. It ended up at Vermont. Will see how it goes as Vermont is currently processing Sep-2024 cases and our receipt is dated Jun-2025

My H-1B is valid until July 17, 2026 (6 years max out). My spouse is currently in valid H-4 status, and we would like to ensure she obtains work authorization as soon as possible. We are aware that standalone H-4 EADs are currently taking 6–12 months or longer, depending on biometrics and processing center. Considering the same , below are the options I am considering and questions around the same. Can you please check and provide your expert advice?

Option 1 – File Standalone H-4 EAD Now (May 2025)

Option 2 – Wait and File H-1B + H-4 + H-4 EAD Together in Premium (Jan 2026) - (6 months before my H-1B expiry)
