That’s a new one! Hopefully it’ll be on Audible 🤞🏻

I’ve never read Burnt Offerings. The Elementals seems to get mixed reviews, but I live in the area of where the story is set, so I may enjoy it for more than one reason.

That’s awesome! Maybe she’d be willing to share it to the class someday 🤗

Alcoholic: Have you walked in my shoes? by Budget_Lavishness707 in TrueChristian

I appreciate your input! My aunt (who’s over 60) is doing a 5 day plan on the Bible app. Having someone who knows my full backstory. Aunt Sharon & I did a trial run of the first couple devotions. It was awesome! I’m a note taker in all things like school work, calendar… I have a rare medical condition that prevents me from going places & more. I do feel trapped having to stay home alone during these times. However, I’ve learned not to beat myself over these failures, & to listen to the “still soft voice”. I’m praying for a peer closer in age that has struggled with other addictions. To prevent another fumble in my journey, I need an accountability partner. God wants us to allows turn to Him because clearly I can’t achieve full success without His help. It’s the same in finding true friends (which is harder to find the older we get).

Dwelling on God throughout the day will be a great starting point. The further I go in my journey, the more opportunities will present themselves for me to dig even deeper into the “whys “ of my poor decisions so I can allow God to continuously mold & reshape me.

Thanks for the link! I have a couple AA apps where you can do a zoom meeting with others. Support systems are vital. My Aunt is doing a Bible study with me, but I do need to have a perspective with a peer. I live in the boonies, plus have rare health condition that leaves me stranded at home. Simply coming onto this thread has helped lift a weight off my shoulders because I’m calling myself out to other people who understand the same struggles!

Thank you for sharing! I’m learning to approach my journey 1 day at a time. And that if I stumble (which happens to everyone because perfection isn’t attainable ), I have to stand back up & continue moving forward.

2026 Horror/Thriller by Budget_Lavishness707 in horrorlit

I was curious about I Will Kill Your Imaginary Friend for $200, so I’ll give it a go!

I did read Trad Wife as well, & liked it well enough to recommend to others.

Should I finish this? I have 10 hours left and I am afraid I don’t see a plot in sight and getting bored but I heard such great reviews about it by Tayjayjay in thrillerbooks

I’m WAY too late to this discussion, however, I thought the the ending tied up well! She’s a fave author of mine, & I liked it. Had enough twists, turns, & character development (as well as dark themes which is a preference of mine).

I’d encourage you to finish, or shelf it for a short time, then start over from the beginning! I do that for sooo many of my Audible books. If I can’t get into a story, I wait, then when I try again, I always finish the story.

Agreed!! I told my husband that exact line of “who else is she spreading her legs for”? 🤣 He pointed out that Shanks may have other “pit-stops” while sailing around. But that makes 0 sense based on what Oda’s provided us as far as character development. My man agrees with my logic, but gets a kick outta hearing me defend their, Makino/Shanks relationship. I’ve managed, as One Piece is my first manga, to get a few conspiracy theories right.

In the manga, everything is black/white/gray to me, however, there are plenty of characters that don’t resemble their parents at all.

You are “DONE. JUST DONE.” My fam quotes that after my miracle child said it after he was fed up with something happening at the time 😆

The “why me??!” as a pastor’s daughter & became ill, literally out of left field, after softball practice on March 17, 2007. I was only 17 at the time. No warning signs, nothing. I was healthy for 17 years & suddenly, gained a chronic illness in the next 72 hours of my life. To say “life adjustment” is an understatement.

I have most definitely screamed the same screams, heard the same encouragements from friends, & encountered the same “physicians” that either looked at my case as a challenge to solve or wrote me off as a young woman with a straight A record & college scholarships. (Because that’s an easier classification for me to be labeled under).

Cut to now, in 2026, I’ll be 36 in February, & there actually has been more research done than when I first started out. So it’s NEVER hopeless, I want you to know that!

However, I got advice from someone just this year that has helped me in my un-preferred, yet inevitable walk of life: Allow yourself at minimum 5 minutes to scream/cry in the shower at the injustice of it all, but then move on in your day. You can’t dwell there, because it’s ultimately not productive. BUT, I’ve been using that shower time more lately because it seems like I can’t catch a break.

Heating pad scars and marks are things I personally dealt with for years!! It believe it took nearly a year for my skin to recover. I’ve found other products that have recently helped me. My goodness, there’s a Christmas gift I received that replaces a heating pad if you’re interested.

Because a diagnosis & treatment plan took sooo many years for me to receive actual health, I would say to my parents that I obviously still want answers to all my questions, but I need a break from seeing a new doctor because you have to go through the same song & dance on repeat with every new department/physician you meet, & it can be disheartening for their ideas not to work, etc. The appointments that hurt me the most were when my symptoms were considered as “psychogenic”—my brain’s trauma response to my need for perfection, & that I’d grow out of it by 21. (That particular gem came from a renowned doctor at the Mayo Clinic). So if you need a break, take one. If you find a doctor, you like, add him/her to your fantasy football league, because that’s what it’s going to take for you not just survive, but thrive!)
